Why was an American WWII pilot proud of a downed American transport?

The American pilot of the Second World War, Louis Cairds, shot down ten planes, as evidenced by the signs on board his Mustang. In addition to the symbols of the countries of the Nazi coalition, among these signs was the US flag. The pilot earned it during a reconnaissance mission: noticing an American transport aircraft heading for the Batan Island airfield, Cairds tried to warn his pilots that the object was controlled by the Japanese, but they did not react. Aware of the brutal Japanese treatment of prisoners, Cairds carefully knocked out both engines of the transport, which fell into the water. All on board managed to get onto the life rafts and were picked up by a seaplane.

What is pulse?

You've probably had to take your pulse hundreds of times. After all, it is not difficult at all - to measure the pulse of yourself or someone else. When this is done by a nurse or doctor, the patient is sitting or lying down. The hand is in a relaxed position, and the thumb is turned up. With the index finger, the nurse finds the pulse on the wrist closer to the base of the thumb. Strokes are counted for one minute. The pulse rate allows you to find out how fast the heart beats and what is the pressure in the circulatory system. There is a pause in the work of the heart. The subsequent expansion and contraction (or pulsation) of the aorta produces an oscillation that travels throughout the body's arterial system.

The pulsation of the arteries, which can be felt on any artery close to the skin, is called a pulse. Since the pulse is directly related to the contraction of the heart, it gives us information about the frequency of the heart.

The pulse rate depends on the body's need for blood. A small body loses more heat than a large body, and therefore it needs accelerated blood circulation. Therefore, the pulse of small birds reaches almost 200 beats! A cat's pulse is about 130 in a human - about 75 in a horse - 35 an elephant's pulse is only 25 beats.

Canadarm3 manipulator for the Lunar Gateway space station 16.03.2022

François-Philippe Champagne, Minister of Innovation, Science and Industry of Canada, announced that MacDonald, Dettwiler and Associates Ltd. (MDA) will receive $268,9 million for the implementation of the second phase of Canadarm3. Recall, Canadarm3 is a service robotic arm for the Lunar Gateway circumlunar space station.

Canada uses the Industrial and Technological Benefits Policy, which stipulates that the country's contribution to the Lunar Gateway will be designed and built in Canada with the direct participation of Canadian suppliers. It is noted that the MDA will support research and development, create further business activity at key industrial facilities in the Canadian space sector.

MDA will use the allocated funds to begin the design phase of the Canadarm3 robotic system. At the development stage, machine vision technologies and advanced developments in the field of artificial intelligence will be involved. As conceived by the authors of the project, the Canadarm3 system should be a highly autonomous robotic system designed to maintain, repair and test the Lunar Gateway. In addition, Canadarm3 is designed to capture incoming spacecraft, assist astronauts during spacewalks, and support scientific research both in lunar orbit and on the lunar surface.

Canadarm3 is scheduled to launch in 2027. The system will consist of a large, next-generation robotic arm, a small, nimble arm, and a set of specialized tools.
