Which female name we are used to was originally male?

The name Inna was originally male. It was worn by a disciple of the Apostle Andrew the First-Called - a Christian preacher of the 2nd century, who, along with the preachers Rimma and Pinna, was brutally murdered by the pagan ruler of Scythia and received the status of a martyr. However, having got to the Slavs, the name gradually transformed into a female one. But the mentioned name Rimma, although it belonged to a male martyr, even at that time was more common among women and simply meant "Roman".

Random interesting fact from the Great Encyclopedia:

How is heat and cold formed?

Some objects feel hot to the touch, others feel cold. Sometimes the air seems hot to us, sometimes cool. Why is it so? According to modern theory, heat is obtained as a result of the movement of molecules and atoms. For example, the molecules that make up air are able to move freely, bumping into each other and into various objects in their path. Now, these molecules can move faster or slower. If they move fast, we say that the air temperature is high and that the air is hot. If they move slowly (as they do on a cold day), we feel that the air is cold. As for liquid and solid substances, the atoms and molecules in them, although they cannot move freely, are still able to accelerate their movement.

For example, in a hot iron cube, the atoms make about a million movements per second, that is, they move extremely fast. If you touch this cube with your fingertip, you will feel pain, because this movement was transmitted to the molecules of your skin in a sudden and sharp contact with fast moving iron particles. Do molecules really move? Numerous experiments fully confirm this.

Indeed, under a microscope, one can see how tiny particles of matter in a drop of water constantly tremble under the impact of millions of invisible moving molecules. The average speed of an oxygen molecule at the melting temperature of ice is about four hundred and twenty meters per second, and a hydrogen molecule is four times faster. In fifteen cubic centimeters of air, thousands of billions of collisions between molecules occur every second! Heat and temperature are not the same thing. The thermal energy that a body contains depends on the energy of the movement of its molecules and atoms. The amount of heat is measured in calories.

A calorie is equal to the amount of heat it takes to raise one gram of water one degree Celsius. And the temperature of the body shows to what degree, or "degree", this thermal energy warmed it up. The lowest possible temperature is 273 degrees below zero Celsius. Scientists believe that at this temperature, the molecules stop moving, that is, they are at rest.

Machine for thinning flowers in gardens 02.05.2024

In modern agriculture, technological progress is developing aimed at increasing the efficiency of plant care processes. The innovative Florix flower thinning machine was presented in Italy, designed to optimize the harvesting stage. This tool is equipped with mobile arms, allowing it to be easily adapted to the needs of the garden. The operator can adjust the speed of the thin wires by controlling them from the tractor cab using a joystick. This approach significantly increases the efficiency of the flower thinning process, providing the possibility of individual adjustment to the specific conditions of the garden, as well as the variety and type of fruit grown in it. After testing the Florix machine for two years on various types of fruit, the results were very encouraging. Farmers such as Filiberto Montanari, who has used a Florix machine for several years, have reported a significant reduction in the time and labor required to thin flowers. ... >>

Advanced Infrared Microscope 02.05.2024

Microscopes play an important role in scientific research, allowing scientists to delve into structures and processes invisible to the eye. However, various microscopy methods have their limitations, and among them was the limitation of resolution when using the infrared range. But the latest achievements of Japanese researchers from the University of Tokyo open up new prospects for studying the microworld. Scientists from the University of Tokyo have unveiled a new microscope that will revolutionize the capabilities of infrared microscopy. This advanced instrument allows you to see the internal structures of living bacteria with amazing clarity on the nanometer scale. Typically, mid-infrared microscopes are limited by low resolution, but the latest development from Japanese researchers overcomes these limitations. According to scientists, the developed microscope allows creating images with a resolution of up to 120 nanometers, which is 30 times higher than the resolution of traditional microscopes. ... >>

Air trap for insects 01.05.2024

Agriculture is one of the key sectors of the economy, and pest control is an integral part of this process. A team of scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Potato Research Institute (ICAR-CPRI), Shimla, has come up with an innovative solution to this problem - a wind-powered insect air trap. This device addresses the shortcomings of traditional pest control methods by providing real-time insect population data. The trap is powered entirely by wind energy, making it an environmentally friendly solution that requires no power. Its unique design allows monitoring of both harmful and beneficial insects, providing a complete overview of the population in any agricultural area. “By assessing target pests at the right time, we can take necessary measures to control both pests and diseases,” says Kapil ... >>

DDR3 Ultra Low Profile (ULP) Planar Mini-UDIMM 8 GB 28.05.2014

The cost, capacity, and size of memory modules are related. Smart Modular Technologies broke the habitual ratio of these parameters with the innovative design of Planar Mini-UDIMM DDR3 Ultra Low Profile (ULP) modules. As a result, the PCBs of the low-profile modules were able to fit twice as many standard DDR3 DRAM components.

In total, the board contains 18 microcircuits of the mass segment with a density of 4 Gbit, which makes it possible to obtain a volume of 8 GB. Typically, to achieve 8 GB, you have to use DDP memory (two dies per package), double-deck chip mounting, or 8 Gb chip density, since only nine components fit on the board. However, all these methods lead to an increase in cost.

Mini-UDIMM modules are widely used in network and communication equipment, as well as in industrial automation. Smart Modular Technologies DDR3 Ultra Low Profile (ULP) 8GB Planar Mini-UDIMMs feature ECC support.

The modules are designed to operate at a voltage of 1,35 V at a frequency of DDR3-1600.
