What number was actually the Swedish king Charles XII?

The 16th century work of the Swede John Magnus on the history of the Swedish kings was fictionalized, but still has major implications. Magnus came up with 5 Eriks before Erik the Victorious and 6 Karls before Karl Sverkersson. Therefore, the famous king Charles XII was actually only the sixth.

When were cats domesticated?

Cats are very ancient animals. Cat remains have been found that are millions of years old!

The domestic cats that we know so well are descended from the wild cat, but we don't know which one, because that was too long ago. Perhaps all varieties, or breeds, of cats are descended from two or three small wild cats that existed in Europe, North Africa and Asia thousands of years ago.

It is believed that they were first tamed about 5000 years ago. We know that 4000 years ago the Egyptians had tame cats. People worshiped them, and some deities were depicted with a cat's head. Cats were even sacrificed.

When a domestic cat died, the Egyptian family and all servants shaved their eyebrows and went into mourning. The death of the temple cat has put the whole city in mourning. Many mummies of these animals have been found, made in the same way as the mummies of pharaohs and noble courtiers. The only payoff for killing a cat was death!

In Europe before 1000 AD. e., probably, there were no tame cats. In ancient times, Europeans treated these animals in a completely different way than the Egyptians. It was believed that a devilish spirit was imprisoned in it. The Devil was often depicted as a black cat, and it was believed that witches turned into cats.

Different breeds of cats, and just individual individuals differ from each other as much as dogs. It is easy to distinguish longhaired cats from shorthaired ones. Of the long-haired, the most famous are the Angora and Persian.

Machine for thinning flowers in gardens 02.05.2024

In modern agriculture, technological progress is developing aimed at increasing the efficiency of plant care processes. The innovative Florix flower thinning machine was presented in Italy, designed to optimize the harvesting stage. This tool is equipped with mobile arms, allowing it to be easily adapted to the needs of the garden. The operator can adjust the speed of the thin wires by controlling them from the tractor cab using a joystick. This approach significantly increases the efficiency of the flower thinning process, providing the possibility of individual adjustment to the specific conditions of the garden, as well as the variety and type of fruit grown in it. After testing the Florix machine for two years on various types of fruit, the results were very encouraging. Farmers such as Filiberto Montanari, who has used a Florix machine for several years, have reported a significant reduction in the time and labor required to thin flowers. ... >>

Advanced Infrared Microscope 02.05.2024

Microscopes play an important role in scientific research, allowing scientists to delve into structures and processes invisible to the eye. However, various microscopy methods have their limitations, and among them was the limitation of resolution when using the infrared range. But the latest achievements of Japanese researchers from the University of Tokyo open up new prospects for studying the microworld. Scientists from the University of Tokyo have unveiled a new microscope that will revolutionize the capabilities of infrared microscopy. This advanced instrument allows you to see the internal structures of living bacteria with amazing clarity on the nanometer scale. Typically, mid-infrared microscopes are limited by low resolution, but the latest development from Japanese researchers overcomes these limitations. According to scientists, the developed microscope allows creating images with a resolution of up to 120 nanometers, which is 30 times higher than the resolution of traditional microscopes. ... >>

Air trap for insects 01.05.2024

Agriculture is one of the key sectors of the economy, and pest control is an integral part of this process. A team of scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Potato Research Institute (ICAR-CPRI), Shimla, has come up with an innovative solution to this problem - a wind-powered insect air trap. This device addresses the shortcomings of traditional pest control methods by providing real-time insect population data. The trap is powered entirely by wind energy, making it an environmentally friendly solution that requires no power. Its unique design allows monitoring of both harmful and beneficial insects, providing a complete overview of the population in any agricultural area. “By assessing target pests at the right time, we can take necessary measures to control both pests and diseases,” says Kapil ... >>

iPhone SDH Released 16.04.2008

What was initially presented as an innovative mobile phone is gradually turning into something more, namely, into a serious competitor to smartphones and communicators, not only in the consumer sector, but also in the corporate one.

The first sign of a new stage in the development of the iPhone was the release of the corresponding tools for software developers, which took place on March 6, 2008 at a special press conference by Apple. During this event, the potential that the American manufacturer laid in its offspring was demonstrated, and it is considerable.

For corporate users, this is full support for Microsoft Exchange, and communication with the Exchange server is carried out directly, and not through additional firewalls and servers. The consumer, on the other hand, expects a significant expansion of the functionality of the device thanks to high-quality software and serious games (for example, Spore and Super Monkey Ball) from third-party manufacturers.

Apps can be downloaded to iPhone directly via Wi-Fi or EDGE, or via iTunes.
