Random interesting fact from the Great Encyclopedia:

Why is there no life on other planets?

We are still not sure that other planets do not have life in one form or another. This is exactly what space exploration is trying to figure out. But we know for sure that certain conditions are necessary for the existence of life. The temperature must be right. All living organisms can exist only at a certain, optimal temperature. Life cannot arise in heat or great cold.

Another necessary condition is water. All living organisms require water. Green plants still need light, as well as minerals. Animals require a source of food. They cannot exist in places where they cannot get food. Do all these necessary conditions exist for life on some other planet? Based on the knowledge that is obtained about other planets, we can answer in the negative. Let's look at examples.

Venus is the closest planet to Earth, it has the same dimensions, for a long time they were considered twin planets. However, Venus is shrouded in dense clouds of sulfuric acid and its atmosphere is suffocating carbon dioxide. Atmospheric pressure is very high, and the temperature on the surface reaches 460 degrees Celsius - too hot for the emergence of life.

The atmosphere of Mars consists mainly of carbon dioxide. Nevertheless, the temperature on the planet does not rise above -29 degrees Celsius, but can drop to -85 degrees. The small amount of water that is on the planet is in a permanently frozen state. Therefore, it is obvious that on each of these planets there are no suitable conditions for life. Similarly, it has been proven that there is no life in any form near the Earth.

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

Electrification of wines 21.05.2009

Chemists from the South China University of Technology in Guangzhou subjected cheap young wine to an electric field with different strengths, and the quality of the drink improved significantly. Such processing allows you to artificially age the drink.

A commission of 12 experienced tasters found that the best results are obtained by three minutes of wine in an electric field of 600 volts per centimeter. The content of long-chain alcohols, which create an unpleasant odor and taste, is reduced by 23%, the concentration of esters, which improve aroma and taste, increases.

Five Chinese wineries have installed equipment and started experimenting with the treatment of wine with electricity. In addition, the authors of the idea are considering the possibility of releasing a small household electrical appliance to improve wine at home.
