How many times larger is a standard Japanese keyboard than a European one?

In Japanese, in addition to the kanji hieroglyphic script borrowed from China, there are also two syllabary alphabets - hiragana and katakana - in which one character corresponds not to a word, but to a separate syllable. Traditionally, they are used to write words for which there are no kanji: katakana for borrowed terms from European languages, and hiragana for individual Japanese particles and suffixes, or when the reader may not know some kanji.

It is 47 hiragana characters that are located on the keyboards, so Japanese keyboards are no different from what we are used to.

In addition, special software can track character input and automatically suggest replacing several characters with the corresponding character.

Innovative gadget batteries from LG Chem 15.10.2013

LG Chem announced that it has overcome the traditional limitations of rectangular battery shapes and is the first in the industry to mass-produce batteries in a variety of shapes. The LG Chem "cable" battery is designed to equip electronic devices that can be bent or even tied into a knot.

The advanced batteries from LG Chem can be divided into three types: "step" batteries, "curved" batteries and "cable" batteries.

The step battery was put into production at the LG Chem factory in Nanjing back in July this year for the LG G2 smartphone. The stepped battery consists of two batteries, with one stacked on top of the other, forming a "stepped" shape. This battery can make more efficient use of free space in the design of modern mobile devices.

To make their products stand out from the competition, smartphone makers are using a "rounded" design that leaves unused space inside the devices. And thanks to the stepped shape of the battery, you can install a larger battery, filling all the available space, and thereby increase the battery life of the smartphone without increasing the size of the entire device. At its Nanjing factory, LG Chem plans to develop more complex step-type batteries with more "layers" to deliver more power based on customer needs. Other companies have also succeeded in producing "composite batteries", but none of them has so far been able to match LG Chem's products in terms of the cost-effectiveness of this type of design.

In addition, LG Chem's curved batteries are designed to power devices with curved screens and flexible designs, such as specially designed smartphones, smartwatches, and similar products. LG Chem's patented Stack & Folding technology reduces physical stress in batteries caused by the curved design. Mass production of curved batteries for LG Electronics' latest smartphones will begin this month.

The LG Chem "cable" battery is designed to equip electronic devices that can be bent or even tied into a knot. The "cable" battery, designed for low power, does not heat up even during prolonged use. What's more, the battery's water resistance makes it an ideal choice for gadgets worn around the neck or wrist. Mass production of cable-type batteries will begin in the near future.
