Why does scarlet fever happen?

Scarlet fever is a disease that affects the mucous membranes of the nose and throat and is usually accompanied by a skin rash. This infectious disease is caused by a bacterium that belongs to the group of streptococci. Although the disease itself is no longer considered serious, other, more serious diseases can follow scarlet fever. The two most serious of these are rheumatic attacks and nephritis (kidney disease).

Scarlet fever most often occurs in winter. Half of the cases of scarlet fever occur in children between the ages of three and eight, and 90 percent in children under the age of fifteen. It is necessary for a person to get sick with scarlet fever once, and he develops immunity.

Many are carriers of the bacteria of this disease, located in the nose and throat, without getting sick. They spread the bacteria to other people through coughing or sneezing. After a person becomes infected with scarlet fever, two to five days pass, then the disease manifests itself with high fever, chills and vomiting. At the same time, the throat hurts a lot. It turns red, swollen and covered with white spots. The tongue also turns red and small swellings appear on it.

On the second day, small bright red spots begin to spread all over the body, arms and thighs. This rash appears due to poisonous secretions from bacteria. This toxic substance attacks the small blood vessels in the skin and enlarges them.

After seven to eight days, the rash fades, the temperature drops, and the throat clears. Scales appear on the skin of the soles and palms, which exfoliate. During the second week of the disease, a significant part of the skin on the face and body is exfoliated.

Machine for thinning flowers in gardens 02.05.2024

In modern agriculture, technological progress is developing aimed at increasing the efficiency of plant care processes. The innovative Florix flower thinning machine was presented in Italy, designed to optimize the harvesting stage. This tool is equipped with mobile arms, allowing it to be easily adapted to the needs of the garden. The operator can adjust the speed of the thin wires by controlling them from the tractor cab using a joystick. This approach significantly increases the efficiency of the flower thinning process, providing the possibility of individual adjustment to the specific conditions of the garden, as well as the variety and type of fruit grown in it. After testing the Florix machine for two years on various types of fruit, the results were very encouraging. Farmers such as Filiberto Montanari, who has used a Florix machine for several years, have reported a significant reduction in the time and labor required to thin flowers. ... >>

Advanced Infrared Microscope 02.05.2024

Microscopes play an important role in scientific research, allowing scientists to delve into structures and processes invisible to the eye. However, various microscopy methods have their limitations, and among them was the limitation of resolution when using the infrared range. But the latest achievements of Japanese researchers from the University of Tokyo open up new prospects for studying the microworld. Scientists from the University of Tokyo have unveiled a new microscope that will revolutionize the capabilities of infrared microscopy. This advanced instrument allows you to see the internal structures of living bacteria with amazing clarity on the nanometer scale. Typically, mid-infrared microscopes are limited by low resolution, but the latest development from Japanese researchers overcomes these limitations. According to scientists, the developed microscope allows creating images with a resolution of up to 120 nanometers, which is 30 times higher than the resolution of traditional microscopes. ... >>

Air trap for insects 01.05.2024

Agriculture is one of the key sectors of the economy, and pest control is an integral part of this process. A team of scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Potato Research Institute (ICAR-CPRI), Shimla, has come up with an innovative solution to this problem - a wind-powered insect air trap. This device addresses the shortcomings of traditional pest control methods by providing real-time insect population data. The trap is powered entirely by wind energy, making it an environmentally friendly solution that requires no power. Its unique design allows monitoring of both harmful and beneficial insects, providing a complete overview of the population in any agricultural area. “By assessing target pests at the right time, we can take necessary measures to control both pests and diseases,” says Kapil ... >>

Testing self-driving cars with a remote driver 01.03.2018

The California Motor Transport Authority said that as early as April, tests of self-driving cars, in which there will be no human driver, ready to take control if necessary, may begin in this state. Instead, the robot will be backed up by a remote operator.

This is a significant step towards the emergence of fully self-driving cars on the roads, since the presence of the driver in the car was previously mandatory in the rules.

According to experts, car sharing services will be the first to adopt remote control technology. So they can increase the number of passengers and eliminate the unproductive cost of transporting the "driver".

Remote control technology that complements self-driving motion technology is being developed by many companies, including Nissan, Waymo, Zoox, Phantom Auto, and Starsky Robotics. The remote presence of a person behind the wheel of a self-driving vehicle allows you to cope with the difficulties inherent in certain stages of movement and so far difficult to overcome for AI systems.

The new rules are due to be approved today, and from March 1, interested companies will be able to apply for testing. The first permits are expected to be issued on 2 April.
