What is default?

This is a waiver of obligations to repay borrowed funds, pay interest on securities. Default can be considered in relation to the company, bank, state.

In a broad sense, "default" refers to any form of default on debt obligations (synonymous with "bankruptcy"), but it is usually used more narrowly, referring to the refusal of the central government or municipal governments of their debts.
