What is musical sound?

Each art form has its own pictorial means. Paintings are created using paints and pencils, as well as canvas or paper. The sculptor in his work uses stone, clay, metal, plastic. Poet - words.

And the composer? He writes music using sounds, more precisely, combinations of sounds. And the sounds are connected with each other not just like that, but according to certain musical laws.

All sounds are divided into musical and noise. What is the difference between musical sound and noise sound?

First of all, each musical sound has its own pitch, which makes it possible to distinguish one sound from another, to repeat the sound heard by voice or on a musical instrument.

But noise sounds do not have an exact height - we cannot accurately determine the sound height of noise by ear. Noise is noise. It is impossible to reproduce exactly how a tree rustles in the wind, either with a voice or with a musical instrument. In music, of course, musical sounds are of primary importance, although noise sounds are often used - they are created by many percussion instruments.

A single musical sound has four basic properties: pitch, loudness, timbre, and duration.

The pitch of the sound depends on the frequency of vibration of the object, such as a certain string of a musical instrument, which is the source of the sound. The higher the oscillation frequency, the higher the sound, and vice versa.

Loudness is already determined by the range (amplitude) of oscillations, for example, of the same string. The larger the amplitude, the stronger and more powerful the sound.

But the same musical sound in height and volume can have a completely different color, depending on the method of extracting the sound. One and the same sound, one and the same note, if you take it on the piano or on the flute and sing it, will have different musical colors. The coloring of sound is timbre.

Well, the time occupied by the sound is called the duration of the sound.

How is ice cream made?

Nothing tastes better than ice cream! Do you want a whole ton? Please! Here is a recipe for you: 500 kg of natural milk, 189 kg of cream, 50 kg of powdered milk, 160 kg of granulated sugar, 2 kg of agaroid, 16 kg of skimmed milk powder, 20 kg of vanillin, 8 kg of water.

But what is agaroid? It's the stuff that makes ice cream "just right". It's called a stabilizer. It does not allow the liquid mixture to turn into a solid mass with large ice crystals when frozen. At the same time, it does not allow the ice cream to spread. Tender and strong, it is obtained thanks to the agaroid.

First, the milk mixture is poured into a giant bath and filtered so that no lumps remain. Then pasteurized and mixed again. After that, the mixture is cooled in special tubes. After that, it, together with air (so that the ice cream turns out to be airy), is pumped into the freezers. During freezing, the mixture is constantly stirred. All. It remains to arrange the ice cream in portions, pour over chocolate and put on a stick or just wrap it. All this is done by special machines.

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

Greenhouse gas - in business 13.12.2009

Every year, about 28 billion tons of carbon dioxide enter the atmosphere due to human activities. Since this gas is involved in the formation of the greenhouse effect that warms the Earth's climate, scientists are thinking about how to reduce its emissions.

German chemists propose to use CO2 as a source of carbon for the synthesis of organic compounds. Based on carbon dioxide, drugs (for example, aspirin), fertilizers (urea), food additives for animal feed, plastics, and even fuel - methanol can be synthesized.

The Japanese chemical concern Mitsui is building a plant in Osaka for the synthesis of methanol from CO2 and hydrogen, and the hydrogen will be produced using solar energy. The plant is to start operating in 2010 and produce 100 tons of methanol annually. However, even if all these opportunities are fully realized, only two billion tons of carbon dioxide will be able to bind annually.

In addition, the gas is rather inert, reluctant to react, which requires additional energy, which means that it will be necessary to increase electricity generation and burn additional amounts of fossil fuels.
