Who was the first person to fly into space?

The launch of the world's first artificial Earth satellite marked the beginning of the space age, and on April 12, 1961, the Vostok spacecraft with a man on board took off from the Baikonur cosmodrome.

Yuri Alekseevich Gagarin, who opened the way to space, circled the globe in 108 minutes and landed in a given area. And behind every minute of its flight - search, hard work of designers, engineers, workers of all specialties. Man's old dream came true - to gain wings and fly over the Earth.

The whole planet loved him. It has become a symbol of our time. However, he did not want to stop there, he was preparing for new flights ... A tragic accident during one of the training flights on a jet aircraft cut short the life of the first cosmonaut of the planet. But the people of the Earth will always remember Yuri Gagarin, his unusually kind smile.

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

Garmin babyCam - car camera for monitoring children 21.10.2015

An interesting novelty was announced by Garmin: a device called babyCam is a compact car camera designed to monitor children in the back seat.

The gadget attaches to the headrest leg of the front or rear seat (depending on how the child is seated) and transmits video wirelessly to the screen of a compatible Garmin GPS navigator (sold separately). This saves the motorist from having to turn around to see what his child is doing. Accordingly, the driver is less likely to be distracted from the road, which increases traffic safety.

babyCam transmits video in 640 x 480 resolution at 30 frames per second. The night vision function provides a high-quality picture in the dark or in low light conditions.

The camera can be powered from the car's on-board network via a cable with a USB connector or from two AA batteries. In the second case, the automatic on / off function helps to save charge when the driver activates the child monitoring mode or switches to navigation. Up to four babyCam cameras can be installed in the car to view the image from different angles or in different areas - say, on the second and third rows of seats.

The dimensions of the device are 86,5 x 39,9 x 43,7 mm, weight - 53 grams. The novelty will go on sale in January 2016 at an estimated price of 200 USD.
