In "Radio", 1997, No. 6, p. 42, 43 an article by A. Ledyankin "Battery mode indicator" was published. Some time after I assembled this indicator and started using it on my car, one inconvenience came to light.

The fact is that an LED indicator for the health of the turn signal and brake light lamps was already installed on my car. The use of red and green LEDs in both devices often led to erroneous perception of information, and the pulsed glow mode only aggravated the situation.

For everyone who is faced with a similar problem, I propose to modify the A. Ledyankin indicator by replacing two LEDs HL4, HL5 (according to the diagram in his article) with a seven-element digital indicator. When charging the battery, it displays the symbol "E", and when discharging - "P" with a flashing decimal point. Such an indication more clearly displays the operating mode of the electrical equipment of both the car and the motorcycle.

The diagram of the node to be modified is shown in the figure; the numbering of the elements on it corresponds to the original one. Elements R20, R22, C7 are excluded, but R23, R24 are additionally introduced.

Refinement of the mode indicator

The principle of operation remains the same. When a high level appears at the output of the DD2.1 element, which corresponds to the battery discharge mode, the transistor VT7 opens and turns on the elements e and f of the HG1 indicator. Together with constantly luminous elements a, b and g, an image of the symbol "P" is formed.

At the same time, the operation of the infra-low frequency generator on the elements DD2.3, DD2.4 is allowed. The decimal point h, switched by the transistor VT9, starts to turn on periodically, attracting the driver's attention.

In the charging mode, a high level at the output of the DD2.2 element opens the transistor VT8 and thereby turns on the elements c, d of the indicator - the symbol "E" is displayed. A low level at the output of the element DD2.1 disables the operation of the generator. Transistor VT9 remains closed, so point h on the indicator is off.

Establishing a modified indicator comes down to equalizing the brightness of the glow of the HG1 indicator elements by selecting a resistor R23.

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

Petgugu Global cat litter 15.04.2024

Taking care of pets can often be a challenge, especially when it comes to keeping your home clean. A new interesting solution from the Petgugu Global startup has been presented, which will make life easier for cat owners and help them keep their home perfectly clean and tidy. Startup Petgugu Global has unveiled a unique cat toilet that can automatically flush feces, keeping your home clean and fresh. This innovative device is equipped with various smart sensors that monitor your pet's toilet activity and activate to automatically clean after use. The device connects to the sewer system and ensures efficient waste removal without the need for intervention from the owner. Additionally, the toilet has a large flushable storage capacity, making it ideal for multi-cat households. The Petgugu cat litter bowl is designed for use with water-soluble litters and offers a range of additional ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

Anti-satellite weapons 31.10.2021

Chinese scientists announced the creation of a new anti-satellite weapon. A robotic device developed in China can place explosives on the nozzles of spacecraft engines. The new weapon is designed to detonate satellites in a controlled manner.

The robotic complex will make it possible to install explosive devices on orbital vehicles. The charge can be on the satellite for a long time, and its activation occurs at a specified time using an electric drive. The activation mechanism also allows the explosive to be separated from the satellite.

Scientists note that a small explosion can disable the satellite, and its consequences can be mistaken for engine failure. The characteristics of the device were checked during tests at a ground facility. Promising weapons are being developed as part of a project to create new warheads.
