But the surprising thing is that the Supreme Court of the United States actually had to decide what a tomato is. Botanically speaking, a tomato is a fruit. There can be no doubt about this. But it is used in soups, sauces, ketchup and other forms as an ingredient in the first and second courses. Therefore, based on the characteristics of trade, the Supreme Court in 1893 classified the tomato as a vegetable.

The wild tomato grew in South America - in Peru, Ecuador and Bolivia. Long before Columbus discovered the New World, cultivated tomato species were also grown in Mexico. And probably, in Europe, people first saw tomatoes from Mexico. The first description of tomatoes in Europe was made in Italy in 1555, where it was called "tomato" - "golden apple". This means that in Europe they first recognized the yellow type of tomato.

At the end of the 1700th century, tomatoes were already grown in the gardens of England, Spain, Italy, France and in the countries of Central Europe. But they were still considered exotic. By the mid-1781s, people in several countries in Europe were beginning to use tomatoes for food, and the first person to grow tomatoes in the United States was Thomas Jefferson in 1900. But many people considered the tomato poisonous. And only in XNUMX it began to be widely eaten.

The tomato is a relative of the potato and tobacco. It has a long growth period and requires rich, well-drained soil. In northern Europe and the northern United States, it is often grown in greenhouses during the winter. It is also grown in Florida, Texas and Mexico during the winter. Winter tomatoes are harvested green and transported to northern markets. Tomatoes ripen on the way to the market.

Lexus RZ 450e electric crossover 26.04.2022

The official presentation of the Lexus RZ 450e electric car took place. This is the brand's first all-electric crossover.

The Lexus RZ 450e electric car received a 71,4 kWh battery that provides a range of up to 225 miles (about 362 km) when using 18-inch tires. You can also install 20-inch tires on the car, but the range in this configuration is not specified.

The car uses the Direct4 all-wheel drive system, which automatically distributes traction between the front and rear wheels depending on the road surface and the driving style of the driver. The new Lexus RZ 450e electric car will go on sale at the end of 2022. Its price has not yet been announced. The recently introduced Toyota BZ4X crossover costs $42 and up. Considering Lexus is a more premium brand, the RZ 450e should be priced higher.
