The British had to make sure that the aliens were aggressive and ruthless people - they even had songs and legends only about wars and battles. Basically they belonged to one of the three Germanic tribes: Angles, Saxons and Jutes. All of them lived on the very coast of the North and Baltic Seas or not far from it. These people were fair-haired, slender and brave warriors. By the end of the 829th century, they had succeeded in destroying the remnants of the former Roman rule in Britain and establishing seven kingdoms. At first, a separate king ruled in each of the kingdoms, but in 871 they all ended up in one under the authority of a single ruler. One of his heirs was Alfred the Great, who ruled the country from 900 to XNUMX AD. e. In 1066, the Anglo-Saxon dynasty lost power during the Norman Conquest. The Old English or Anglo-Saxon language spoken by the Anglo-Saxons was a mixture of Angles, Saxons and Jutes. Another thing is also interesting: in Germany, schools began to be called gymnasiums, in France - lyceums, and the Scottish name of the school is an academy! All three names have survived from the time of Plato and Aristotle. Neither of these two schools looked like a modern educational institution. Rather, they were places for discussion, and only occasionally lectures or classes were given to students. Around the year 250, the ancient Greeks realized that students should be taught grammar, so special grammar schools gradually appeared. Still later, the Romans adopted their system of education from the Greeks. Roman schools were more similar to modern ones. Believe it or not, students went to Roman schools with the same reluctance that we sometimes go to modern ones. The students had to get up early, memorize complex rules, a foreign language and, in addition, behave appropriately. The disobedient and lazy were flogged with rods!
