Why is bread called the pillar of life?

There are countries where beans, potatoes and acorns are used to make bread. But the bread we are accustomed to is made from various types of cereals. For most people, bread is the most important food. And this is understandable, because bread contains most of the nutrients needed for health and is relatively inexpensive. If there were no bread, people would have to consume more expensive food, such as eggs, milk, fruits, in order to maintain health and strength. Bread helps poor people to maintain strength. That is why bread is called the pillar of life.

In ancient times, man discovered that chewing grains of cereals gives him strength. Over 3000 BC e. The Egyptians learned how to grind grain into flour between two stones. They kneaded the dough with water, put it into molds and baked it.

There are two types of dough: yeast and unleavened, made without the use of yeast. Yeast bread contains substances that release carbon dioxide bubbles, which gives the bread a fluffiness. Unleavened bread is always dry and hard. More ordinary bread - on yeast sourdough. But biscuits, muffins, cakes and other confectionery products are baked in powdered or sour milk with the addition of soda.

Bread can be made from many plants, but wheat bread is considered the best. Wheat contains gluten, which better retains gas bubbles. This makes the bread more fluffy. Incidentally, the expression "breaking bread" belongs to the ancient Jews. They baked their bread on thin sheets and broke it instead of cutting it.

Low error of the quantum computer 05.05.2014

Scientists from Australia and the USA managed to achieve a low error in the operation of a quantum computer.

The authors of the development created a linear array of superconducting qubits, that is, quantum analogues of ordinary bits, the material of which is in a superconducting state. The accuracy achieved by physicists was 99,92% for one qubit and 99,4% for two. This brings modern science very close to the possibility of building prototypes of quantum computers.

As the developers say, for a quantum computer, at least a two-dimensional array of similar qubits with an error rate of less than 1% is needed. In the event that we are talking about the release of such devices on a commercial basis, the error rate should be about 0,1%, i.e. an order of magnitude lower. Be that as it may, the work of the authors showed a way in which qubits can be connected into a linear system and controlled.

A quantum computer is a computer that uses quantum laws in its work. A normal bit can only be in two states. A quantum bit (qubit) is capable of taking on an infinite number of values, which are determined by the superposition of two basic values.

There is an assumption that the construction of such a computer will lead to significant progress in computing; Quantum computers will be orders of magnitude superior to the capabilities of our usual computing systems.
