No brainer

Mayakovsky V.V.
Mayakovsky V.V.

Phraseologism: No brainer.

Meaning: Very simple.

Origin: 1. The source of the expression "And a no-brainer" is a poem by Mayakovsky ("It is clear even a no-brainer - / This Petya was a bourgeois"). 2. The expression was widely used first in the Strugatsky story "The Land of Crimson Clouds", and then in Soviet boarding schools for gifted children. They recruited teenagers who had two years left to study (grades A, B, C, D, E) or one year (grades E, F, I). The students of the one-year stream were called so - "hedgehogs". When they came to the boarding school, "two-year students" were already ahead of them in a non-standard program, so at the beginning of the school year the expression "no brainer" was very relevant.

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

Siemon 40/100 Gb Fiber Optic Solutions 08.10.2015

Siemon announced the launch of 40/100Gb fiber optic solutions, enabling fast and cost-effective migration from 10Gb to 40Gb or 100Gb. Siemon's Plug and Play solutions, part of LightHouse's family of state-of-the-art fiber optic solutions, which include an expanded range of cord versatility, enable customers to operate their existing equipment and backbones with next-generation network infrastructures, servers, and storage systems using 40/100 Gbps speeds.

MTP cable systems are connected to active equipment using either Siemon Quick-Pack adapters or LightStack ultra-high density MTP adapters. This allows for convenient end-to-end connectivity to Siemon's fiber optic switching equipment enclosures. The new 40/100 Gb fiber optic cabling solutions include conversion cords to go from two 12-fiber MTP connectors to three 8-fiber MTP connectors, ensuring 100 percent utilization of the 12-fiber MTP backbones.

"For current 40 Gb data rates and 100 Gb data rates being implemented, 8-fiber connections are used, leaving 33% of 12-fiber backbone solutions unused. Our conversion cords transition from two 12-fiber MTP connectors to three 8-fiber MTP fiber connectors to eliminate this power loss,” said Nikolay Efimov, technical manager of Siemon in Russia and the CIS. "Using conversion in equipment is a more cost-effective solution with less waste than purchasing and installing separate conversion plug-ins that add additional mating pairs in the channel."

The new 40/100 Gb fiber optic cabling solutions also include single MTP jumpers, conversion cords that transition from two 12-fiber MTP connectors to one 24-fiber MTP connector for use with existing 100-fiber 20 Gigabit links, and LC connector to four MTP x 10 Gb hybrid cords that provide a transition from an MTP connector to four duplex LC connectors for use with equipment supporting 40 Gb data rates based on multiple 10 Gb port aggregation.

To upgrade from 10 Gb to 40 Gb and 100 Gb, customers can simply switch from existing MTP modules to Siemon LC modules using MTP adapters and then select the 40/100 cords that best suit their needs. The cords are manufactured using the smaller diameter Siemon RazorCore cable, making connections easier to access while reducing cable clutter in horizontal cable runs to improve equipment ventilation.
