Humans tend to make mistakes

Lucius Annaeus Seneca the Younger
Lucius Annaeus Seneca the Younger

Phraseologism: Humans tend to make mistakes.

Meaning: About indulgence to human mistakes, misconduct.

Origin: The prototype of this expression is found in the Greek poet Theognis, who lived 500 years BC. e., he said that it is impossible to maintain close friendly relations with anyone if you are angry at any mistake of friends, "since mistakes are inevitable between mortals." In the future, this idea was repeated in different versions - by the Greek poet Euripides (480-406 BC) in the tragedy "Hippolytus" "everyone is prone to make mistakes", by Cicero ("Philippi", 12, 5) - "Every person it is natural to err, but it is not natural for anyone but a fool to persist in error. The Roman rhetorician Mark Annaeus Seneca (c. 55 BC - c. 37 AD) says: "To err is human."

Random phraseology:

Nature does not tolerate emptiness.

Meaning:

If you do not consciously support, do not cultivate a good, good beginning in a person (society), then it will inevitably be replaced by a bad and evil one.

Origin:

From Latin: Natura abhorret vacuum. The expression belongs to the ancient Greek philosopher Aristotle (384-322 BC). It became popular thanks to the French humanist writer Francois Rabelais (1494-1553), who in his novel "Gargantua" (1535) writes (part 1, ch. 5) about medieval physicists who were sure that "nature is afraid of emptiness" and this was explained. for example, the rise of water in pumps (they did not yet know about the pressure difference). Sometimes the Latin expression Horror vacui is used in the same sense - fear, fear of emptiness. In part, it can serve as an analogue of the well-known saying "A holy place is never empty" (jokingly-iron.).

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food.
