Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

China will save 300 million tons of coal per year 19.04.2017

A report by Greenpeace Southeast Asia, Accelerating the Energy Transition: Co-benefits of Wind and Solar PV in China, states that renewable energy will save China about 2030 million coal annually by 300.

The report reflects the impact of the wind and solar photovoltaic industry on China's economy from 2015 to 2030, based on the current state of the country's renewable energy use, available technologies, government policies, and the ongoing decline in the cost of energy sources.

The report found that by 2030, wind and solar energy could save 3,6 billion m3 of water per year, corresponding to the annual basic needs of 200 million people. Given growing concerns about water resources, this is one important co-benefits that is sometimes overlooked when considering the advantages of using renewable energy over fossil fuels.

According to the report, China's renewable energy market will grow 2030 times to 5 trillion yuan ($1,57 billion) by 227,9 and account for 1,1% of national GDP.
