Focus Description:

The magician takes a deck of cards from his pocket. After shuffling it, he invites one of the spectators to take one card from the deck and name it. The spectator calls: "This is the ace of spades." Then the artist asks to put this card in the middle of the deck and arranges the cards in a neatly folded pile on the left palm.

Having made several passes over the deck in the air with his right hand, the performer orders the ace of spades to come out of the deck. Obeying the order, the deck of cards in the palm of your hand begins to move. Part of the deck is separated from the main pile, slides forward, backward and pushes one card out of the middle (Fig. 62, B). This is the ace of spades. Having fulfilled the order of the performer, the deck of cards in the palm of your hand takes its original position.

Focus secret:

For this trick, you need one deck of cards, a 50 cm piece of thin fishing line and a safety pin.

The deck must be divided in half. Set aside one half, and make a hole in the second with an ordinary sewing needle in the center of each card. Then tie one end of the fishing line to a pin, and pull the other through all the cards with holes. Thus, this stack of cards will be strung on a fishing line. A knot is tied at the end of the fishing line so that it does not slip out and the cards do not crumble (Fig. 62, B). For greater strength, this knot can be sealed with a piece of adhesive tape (Fig. 62, D). For all the secret devices associated with card tricks, I advise you to use only this film. It is quite sticky, holds well and is completely invisible due to its transparency.

Before demonstrating the trick, the end of the fishing line with a pin is pinned to the belt of the trousers on the left side under the jacket. Both halves of the cards are folded into a single deck so that the secret ones are at the bottom and the free ones, without fishing line, are at the top. Then the entire deck is placed in the left pocket of the trousers. The jacket covers a simple adaptation to the trick, and the performer can feel free and at ease on stage (Fig. 62, E).

Starting to demonstrate the trick, the performer takes this deck out of his pocket and puts it in his palm so that the fishing line is between the middle and ring fingers, and on the back of the hand goes along the sleeve (Fig. 62, E). Having descended from the stage into the auditorium, the performer opens the free part of the deck of cards in front of the audience with a fan in the palm of his hand and offers to take one of them. The spectator takes a card, calls it, and meanwhile the performer closes the fan of free cards in the palm of his hand and again opens the fan with a fan, but this time already secret cards strung on a fishing line, which at this moment should not be stretched. The performer asks to put the announced card into the open deck and closes the fan. Fishing line obediently lets in a free card between two secret ones. All cards are in the same deck again. Now the performer makes several passes with his right hand and stretches forward his left palm on which the deck lies. The fishing line is pulled from this, the upper part of the deck is separated, slides forward, then back, and the card inserted into the deck crawls out of it: when pulled, the fishing line pushes out a free card inserted between two secret ones (Fig. 62 G).

The second variant of the focus is quite simple. It is built on the same principle. Only the performer offers to get one card from the deck, not one, but two or three from the audience. They take out one, another, third cards in turn and put them into a deck opened like a fan. Then the performer does all the same manipulations as described above, and three cards are alternately pushed out of the deck.

Machine for thinning flowers in gardens 02.05.2024

In modern agriculture, technological progress is developing aimed at increasing the efficiency of plant care processes. The innovative Florix flower thinning machine was presented in Italy, designed to optimize the harvesting stage. This tool is equipped with mobile arms, allowing it to be easily adapted to the needs of the garden. The operator can adjust the speed of the thin wires by controlling them from the tractor cab using a joystick. This approach significantly increases the efficiency of the flower thinning process, providing the possibility of individual adjustment to the specific conditions of the garden, as well as the variety and type of fruit grown in it. After testing the Florix machine for two years on various types of fruit, the results were very encouraging. Farmers such as Filiberto Montanari, who has used a Florix machine for several years, have reported a significant reduction in the time and labor required to thin flowers. ... >>

Advanced Infrared Microscope 02.05.2024

Microscopes play an important role in scientific research, allowing scientists to delve into structures and processes invisible to the eye. However, various microscopy methods have their limitations, and among them was the limitation of resolution when using the infrared range. But the latest achievements of Japanese researchers from the University of Tokyo open up new prospects for studying the microworld. Scientists from the University of Tokyo have unveiled a new microscope that will revolutionize the capabilities of infrared microscopy. This advanced instrument allows you to see the internal structures of living bacteria with amazing clarity on the nanometer scale. Typically, mid-infrared microscopes are limited by low resolution, but the latest development from Japanese researchers overcomes these limitations. According to scientists, the developed microscope allows creating images with a resolution of up to 120 nanometers, which is 30 times higher than the resolution of traditional microscopes. ... >>

Air trap for insects 01.05.2024

Agriculture is one of the key sectors of the economy, and pest control is an integral part of this process. A team of scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Potato Research Institute (ICAR-CPRI), Shimla, has come up with an innovative solution to this problem - a wind-powered insect air trap. This device addresses the shortcomings of traditional pest control methods by providing real-time insect population data. The trap is powered entirely by wind energy, making it an environmentally friendly solution that requires no power. Its unique design allows monitoring of both harmful and beneficial insects, providing a complete overview of the population in any agricultural area. “By assessing target pests at the right time, we can take necessary measures to control both pests and diseases,” says Kapil ... >>

Mind reading helmet 20.06.2021

US company Kernel said its engineers were able to create a mind-reading device. So, a special helmet reads and analyzes brain activity. Moreover, it is going to be put on the market at a cost of 50 thousand dollars.

The helmet picks up neural waves and then interprets them in real time. A device called Flow uses lasers to analyze brain activity. It can be connected to a computer using a USB connector to track thoughts.

The new device can help doctors in various studies, but the need for it for ordinary users remains in question.
