Gogol
Proverbs and sayings
Phraseologism: Gogol.
Meaning: 1. About a brave, emphasized cheerfully and self-confidently walking person, 2. (folk disapproval) about a proudly, akimbo walking loafer (approved or joking).
Origin: The turnover was formed by comparing a person with a diving duck (dilektnoe gogol), which walks slowly on land, waddling, throwing its head back.
Random phraseology:
Reasonable, kind, eternal.
Meaning:
About knowledge, morality, life values that the teacher gives.
Origin:
From the poem "To the Sowers" (1877) by N. L. Nekrasov (1821-1877), who refers to the "sowers of knowledge for the people's field": "Sow reasonable, good, eternal, // Sow! The Russian people will say thank you from the heart .. The expression "sower" is a stable image in Nekrasov's poetics: "an honest sower of good" he calls the critic V. G. Belinsky (the poem "Belinsky"), "the sower of truth" - the writer N. G. Chernyshevsky (the poem "Parable") , and also speaks of the "sower" in the poem "To whom it is good to live in Russia": "Such good soil - // The soul of the Russian people ... // O sower, come!" In this case, we are talking not only about the work of a school teacher, but also about the sum of certain "eternal values", about civic feeling, a new, progressive worldview, etc. |

Artificial leather for touch emulation
15.04.2024
In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men
14.04.2024
The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>
Random news from the Archive The blackest color for a BMW car
29.08.2019
The unique project was born thanks to the collaboration between BMW and Surrey NanoSystem, which developed Vantablack. The BMW X6 Vantablack VBx2 will be shown at the Frankfurt Motor Show.
BMW painted the car in the blackest known substance.
In 2014, British experts introduced the substance vantablack (vertically aligned nanotube arrays (vertically oriented arrays of nanotubes) + black (black)), which is the blackest known substance in the world.
Vantablack consists of carbon nanotubes growing on aluminum foil, 14 to 50 micrometers long and 20 nanometers in diameter. Such a substance absorbs 99,965% of the radiation incident on it, which distorts the shape of the surface covered with vantablack and visually turns three-dimensional objects into two-dimensional blackness.
The company has previously rejected all requests to paint vehicles with vantablack. The first car to receive an innovative coating was the new BMW X6 coupe-crossover, whose design was suitable, according to the creators of vantablack, to showcase the blackest substance in the world.
Prior to applying vantablack to a car, the substance was used in the aerospace industry, including in optical elements. Vantablack analog, developed by the American company NanoLab, is available on the open market.
