Artificial leather for touch emulation
15.04.2024
In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

04.09.2023
An innovative product from the American startup Colorpik is a felt-tip pen that can create a palette of 16 million colors by extracting color information from the environment.
This device is equipped with a high-precision RGB sensor and four replaceable ink cartridges filled with ink of different base colors.
Using the Colorpik Pen is incredibly simple: you just need to bring the marker to the object of interest in the color and activate the button on the body. The Colorpik Pen comes with six different interchangeable nibs (ball, marker, brush, fluffy, round and stylus) and comes with a stylus cap perfect for use on touch devices.
In addition, the marker can interact with your smartphone through a special mobile application for iOS and Android. In this application, you can adjust and complement the color scheme as you wish. Information can also be transferred to a tablet or computer via Bluetooth and USB.
The manufacturer claims that the built-in 280 mAh lithium battery will last for 15 hours of active use, and one cartridge is enough to create a line 24 kilometers long.
The Colorpik Pen is already available on Kickstarter for $149. The kit includes the marker itself, four replacement nibs, a color palette, a charging cable and three sets of ink cartridges.
