Blue Beard

Charles Perrault
Charles Perrault

Phraseologism: Blue Beard.

Meaning: Strict, demanding, etc. husband (jokingly-ironic).

Origin: From the old French fairy tale "Raoul, the Knight of the Bluebeard", edited and published by the French fairy tale writer Charles Perrault in 1697. It tells of a knight who, in anger, killed his first wife, then five others, whom he married later. He dealt with them because, driven by curiosity, they violated his ban and looked into the secret room of the Bluebeard castle - the one where the first murder took place. Violated Raul's ban and his seventh wife, but her brothers arrived in time in time, and she was saved. The nickname Bluebeard became a household name after the French composer Jacques Offenbach wrote an operetta (1866) based on this fabulous story. Later, they began to jokingly call an extremely jealous husband like that, although the tale itself does not give grounds for this.

Meaning:

Origin:

The title of a play by the English playwright and publicist George Bernard Shaw (1856-1950).

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. Rocket flying on plastic waste 02.12.2021

Pulsar Fusion has successfully tested its hybrid rocket engine, which uses both solid and gaseous or liquid propellants. The Pulsar rocket uses recycled high-density polyethylene and nitrogen oxide as fuel, which burn together. Using this polyethylene, you can create non-toxic rocket fuel.

Hybrid engines can run on recycled plastic, while liquid engines cannot. This can be said to be an environmentally friendly type of engine.

Plastic bottles and other plastic waste can be melted down and placed in special blocks that are loaded into the rocket before each launch.

In September 2021, Pulsar Fusion received funding from the UK government to further develop its plasma thrusters capable of propelling particles at 20 km/s.

Pulsar Fusion wants to create an ultra-fast engine for interplanetary travel using nuclear fusion technologies in 4 years. By 2027, Pulsar Fusion wants to have a nuclear fusion rocket engine that can be tested in orbit.
