Engels in the 6th chapter of the book "The Condition of the Working Class in England" wrote: "The humane Tories were right in calling factory workers white slaves" (K. Marx and F. Engels, Soch., vol. Ill, M.-L. 1930, p. 470). In the same 1845, this expression was picked up by the German novelist Adolf Wilck, who published the novel "White Slaves". This expression has become firmly established in the everyday life of socialist writers.
