With a kind, quiet word to remember (remember)

Shevchenko T.G.
Shevchenko T.G.

Phraseologism: With a kind, quiet word, remember (remember).

Meaning: Remember someone with a feeling of gratitude, appreciation, respect, etc.

Origin: From the poem "If I die, then bury ..." ("When I die, bury ...") by the Ukrainian poet and artist Taras Grigoryevich Shevchenko (1814-1861). Usually used ironically, when it is understood that the one who is "remembered" by such a word evokes feelings of a completely different kind.

Random phraseology:

Pointless dreams.

Meaning:

Impossible dreams, projects.

Origin:

The words of Nicholas II from his speech to representatives of the nobility, zemstvos and cities, delivered in 1895. In this speech, Nicholas, among other things, said: “I know that lately in some zemstvo meetings the voices of people who were carried away by senseless dreams of participating representatives of the zemstvos in matters of internal administration. Let everyone know that, devoting all my strength to the good of the people, I will guard the beginning of autocracy as firmly and unswervingly as my unforgettable late parent guarded it. Nikolai read the speech from a note enclosed in a round lambskin hat, which he held in his hands. From excitement, he, instead of "unrealizable dreams," as it stood in the text of the speech written for him, read "meaningless dreams."

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>
