Careless

Proverbs and sayings
Proverbs and sayings

Phraseologism: Careless.

Meaning: 1. One who does not worry about anything, carefree. 2. Flowing without worries, sadness.

Origin: It is possible to understand why this word means "carefree" only if we turn to the Old Russian language. And it turns out that our ancestors, in addition to the word "oven", there was a very similar "oven", but its meaning was completely different - "care", something that worries, "bakes", scorches the soul. Therefore, "careless" is a person who lives without "peki", nothing "bakes" him. The Old Russian word "furnace" became the basis for such nouns as "guardianship", "sadness" and even "liver".

Random phraseology:

The powers that be.

The expression from the Epistle of the Apostle Paul to the Romans (13, 1-5) about obedience to the authorities: "Let every soul obey those in power, for there is no power except from God." According to the church-glory. the word "possessing" means: having the highest authority.

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

Technology at the tip of a golden hair 23.10.2006

Scientists from the USA figured out how to add a single molecule of a substance to the reactor, and at a strictly defined moment.

"Chemists have known for a long time that it is technically possible to control the release of individual molecules of drugs or reagents, but no one has tried to implement this idea. We have brought it to the end," says Professor Peter Searson from Johns Hopkins University. He and his colleagues specialize in growing nanowires from various metals using photolithography methods.

In this case, two pure gold electrode wires were needed. A long hydrocarbon molecule was attached to one of them using a gold-sulfur bond. A biomolecule was attached to the other end of the molecule, which needed to be introduced into the reactor at the right time.

When this moment came, a short current pulse was passed through the electrodes, the bond between gold and sulfur was broken and the molecule set off to float freely. After that, you can attach a new molecule to the electrode and repeat everything from the beginning.

"Our system is quite suitable for implantable chips, which ensure the timely release of drugs into the human body," says Professor Searson. "It will also help to carry out chemical reactions with extremely small amounts of a substance."
