The existence of an entropy rule for quantum entanglement has been proven 09.05.2024

Quantum mechanics continues to amaze us with its mysterious phenomena and unexpected discoveries. Recently, Bartosz Regula from the RIKEN Center for Quantum Computing and Ludovico Lamy from the University of Amsterdam presented a new discovery that concerns quantum entanglement and its relation to entropy. Quantum entanglement plays an important role in modern quantum information science and technology. However, the complexity of its structure makes understanding and managing it challenging. Regulus and Lamy's discovery shows that quantum entanglement follows an entropy rule similar to that for classical systems. This discovery opens new perspectives in the field of quantum information science and technology, deepening our understanding of quantum entanglement and its connection to thermodynamics. The results of the study indicate the possibility of reversibility of entanglement transformations, which could greatly simplify their use in various quantum technologies. Opening a new rule ... >>

Quantum films for terahertz electronics 07.03.2024

A research team from Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf (HZDR) and the University of Salerno in Italy has identified the potential of thin films of elemental bismuth for use in terahertz electronics using the nonlinear Hall effect.

The study of bismuth quantum films opens up new prospects in the field of terahertz electronics. The ability to use these materials at room temperature and on a variety of substrates makes them an important element for the future development of high-frequency technologies.

Bismuth has a number of advantages that other materials do not have, including the ability to observe quantum effects at room temperature. Thin films can be deposited on a variety of substrates, including plastic, making them an ideal solution for modern high-frequency electronics.

The Hall effect, which occurs when current is applied through certain materials, allows the generation of a voltage perpendicular to the current. Scientists have discovered that thin films of bismuth can exhibit a nonlinear Hall effect, opening up new opportunities for the development of high-speed electronics components.

Further research is aimed at finding materials that can exhibit this quantum effect at room temperature and be convenient for use in industry. Researchers are also developing microfabrication techniques to control the effect through the geometry of electronic components.
