Focus Description:

The performer takes out the first card that comes across from the deck and, showing the audience, calls it. Let's say he's holding the four of spades. Putting the rest of the cards on the illusion table, the performer shows the four of spades on both sides. Spectators are convinced that the card is the most ordinary and there are no secrets in it. But the performer recommends that you carefully monitor her, as now her magical transformation will begin. This four of spades will turn into a six.

Spectators are intrigued and become extremely attentive. Here is the performer, making a soft movement with his free right hand, as if catching something in the air, lightly touches the card that has been in his left hand all this time, and the fifth sign of spades appears on it: the four has turned into a five. Another moment - again the right hand glided smoothly in the air, lightly touched the card, and the sixth sign appeared on it. In front of the audience, she turned from the four of spades into the six of spades.

Focus secret:

The more interesting the trick, the simpler its secret. A deck of cards, of course, is the most common. But the choice of one of the cards by the performer is by no means accidental. Of course, it is prepared in advance and put into the deck so that it can be easily and quickly found there. The four is the most suitable figure for this trick, and it is precisely spades or clubs. They are more clearly visible from the stage than the others. As you know, on the four signs are located two at the top and two at the bottom. The central part remains clean (Fig. 63, A).

In addition to the main card, you need another one, a "understudy". Two signs are cut out from her, and each of them is superimposed on the top sign of the main card so that they are combined. Then a thin needle with a light nylon thread is taken. A knot is tied at the end of the thread and, having pierced the middle of the combined signs on the map, a needle and thread are brought out between the upper and lower signs of the right side, then in the same way - from the left. Moreover, knots are made at the ends of the withdrawn threads. For strength, you need to drop a drop of BF-2 glue on each knot. The knots of threads are removed from the side of the "shirt" and are completely invisible.

Thus, on the top two signs of the main card, two fictitious signs will be sewn with a large stitch, which will play the main role in the "magic" transformation (Fig. 63, B and C).

Before the performance, you need to check the card. The main thing is that the fictitious signs are neatly combined with the main ones. Then the secret card is put into the deck, which is placed on the illusion table. Having started the demonstration, the performer shuffles the deck and takes out a secret four from it. He puts all the other cards on the table, and shows the four to the audience on both sides. Then she takes it with two fingers of her left hand and holds it so that the audience can see it well.

Making a soft wave with his right hand, the performer gently touches the card and moves down the thread, first one fictitious sign to the middle, and then another. The nylon thread is completely invisible, and this "extraordinary" transformation is very impressive.

The reverse version of the focus is based on the same principle, with the only difference being that the six should be shown first. But before that, you need to move the fictitious signs down to the center line. During the demonstration, the hand is already drawn from the bottom up, moving the fictitious sign to the top sign of the main card, carefully combining them. In addition, from the six you can make a seven and even an eight. To do this, you need the main card - the six. Two signs are also sewn to it. But they are arranged differently: one on the upper right main sign, the other on the lower left (Fig. 64).

One thread is drawn diagonally from the right corner through the center of the top four characters of the main card, and the other from the left corner through the center of the bottom four. During the demonstration, fictitious signs are moved in the direction of the thread on which each of them is attached.

Machine for thinning flowers in gardens 02.05.2024

In modern agriculture, technological progress is developing aimed at increasing the efficiency of plant care processes. The innovative Florix flower thinning machine was presented in Italy, designed to optimize the harvesting stage. This tool is equipped with mobile arms, allowing it to be easily adapted to the needs of the garden. The operator can adjust the speed of the thin wires by controlling them from the tractor cab using a joystick. This approach significantly increases the efficiency of the flower thinning process, providing the possibility of individual adjustment to the specific conditions of the garden, as well as the variety and type of fruit grown in it. After testing the Florix machine for two years on various types of fruit, the results were very encouraging. Farmers such as Filiberto Montanari, who has used a Florix machine for several years, have reported a significant reduction in the time and labor required to thin flowers. ... >>

Advanced Infrared Microscope 02.05.2024

Microscopes play an important role in scientific research, allowing scientists to delve into structures and processes invisible to the eye. However, various microscopy methods have their limitations, and among them was the limitation of resolution when using the infrared range. But the latest achievements of Japanese researchers from the University of Tokyo open up new prospects for studying the microworld. Scientists from the University of Tokyo have unveiled a new microscope that will revolutionize the capabilities of infrared microscopy. This advanced instrument allows you to see the internal structures of living bacteria with amazing clarity on the nanometer scale. Typically, mid-infrared microscopes are limited by low resolution, but the latest development from Japanese researchers overcomes these limitations. According to scientists, the developed microscope allows creating images with a resolution of up to 120 nanometers, which is 30 times higher than the resolution of traditional microscopes. ... >>

Air trap for insects 01.05.2024

Agriculture is one of the key sectors of the economy, and pest control is an integral part of this process. A team of scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Potato Research Institute (ICAR-CPRI), Shimla, has come up with an innovative solution to this problem - a wind-powered insect air trap. This device addresses the shortcomings of traditional pest control methods by providing real-time insect population data. The trap is powered entirely by wind energy, making it an environmentally friendly solution that requires no power. Its unique design allows monitoring of both harmful and beneficial insects, providing a complete overview of the population in any agricultural area. “By assessing target pests at the right time, we can take necessary measures to control both pests and diseases,” says Kapil ... >>

Atlantis in Guatemala 09.08.2002

Wherever they searched for the legendary Atlantis - in the Mediterranean Sea, near the Azores, in the Baltic and even in Antarctica.

Now a German historian, a specialist in the Mayan people, Joachim Ritstig, declares that the lost city was not in the sea, but on Lake Izabal in Guatemala. According to the historian, he found indications of this place on stone steles placed by the Maya in the city of Copan.

Inscriptions report that a city named Atlan was located on Lake Izabal and died in 667 BC. e. At the bottom of the lake, at a depth of 20 meters, ring-shaped structures were found with the help of an echo sounder. As you know, the city described by Plato was built in the form of concentric rings.

Perhaps only these two features - the concentric layout and the name of the city - coincide with Plato's story, recorded from the words of an Egyptian priest. Nevertheless, Ritstieg believes that this is enough for bold conclusions. The city was located on an island in the center of the lake, which was a water-filled crater of an extinct volcano. During a strong earthquake, the walls of the crater collapsed, blocking Atlan and raising the level of the lake, so that the ruins were under water

A project has already been developed to drain part of the lake in order to carry out excavations on a dry bottom.
