Focus Description:

An assistant comes onto the stage at the invitation of the performer. Her neck is decorated with a string of beautiful beads. The magician asks to take them off and give them to him for a while. The assistant fulfills the request. The performer takes the beads from her, holding them by the end of the thread - as if he convinces the audience that the beads are the most ordinary. Then he uses scissors to cut off the lower knot of thread that held the beads. They are poured into a glass, and the thread remains in the performer’s hand. The assistant is upset that she was deprived of her decoration, and besides, on stage. But the magician calms her down and asks her not to worry. He makes a pound out of a piece of paper and pours beads into it from a glass, and then puts a thread there. Having closed the pound, the magician passes it into the hands of his assistant and makes several “magic” movements over it. After that, he opens the pound and pulls out a whole string of beads. Even all the locks were preserved on it.

The performer thanks the assistant for her help and returns the beads to her, then unfolds the pound and shows the audience a blank piece of paper.

Focus secret:

The secret of the trick is in the beads. They require special preparation. In this case, you will need beads with the simplest clasp. One end of them should end with a ring, and the other with a hook. Usually beads are strung on one thread. But for this trick you will need a second one - a secret one, which is passed through the beads next to the main one. Knots are tied at both ends of the secret thread, which should not slip through the holes of the beads (Fig. 20).

The assistant puts on appropriately prepared beads before the performance. When she takes them off on stage and hands them to the performer, he takes the necklace by the knot of the secret thread.

Holding the beads over the glass, the performer carefully, so as not to catch the main thread, cuts the bottom knot with a secret one. As soon as this happens, the beads will quickly slide off the secret thread and fall into the glass, while the thread will remain in the performer's hand. The audience gets the complete impression that the beads have scattered. Next, the performer makes a pound out of paper and pours beads into it. Then he puts the thread in the pound.

Having closed the pound, the performer passes it to the assistant. Having made several “magic” movements, he opens the pound and pulls out a string of beads. At the same time, you should roll up the secret thread into a ball, and then quietly get rid of it. The performer unfolds the empty pound and shows it to the audience.

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

Warmer in Europe 02.08.2004

Swiss climatologists from the University of Bern, after analyzing data on summer temperatures in Europe over several centuries, came to the conclusion that since the Middle Ages, the climate of the continent has been steadily warming.

The last 30 years have been the warmest in more than five centuries. Regular and relatively accurate measurements of air temperature have been conducted for only about 150 years, so scientists used indirect evidence, for example, measurements of the width of annual rings on saw cuts of old trees from Scandinavia and the oxygen isotope ratio in Greenland ice cores.

In addition, there are phenological records that were kept in some European monasteries. The monks noted, for example, the time of snow melting, the time of flowering of wild and cultivated plants, the period of ripening and harvesting of grapes. It turns out that the coldest in Europe for 500 years was the winter of 1708/1709, and the warmest was the winter of 1989/1990. The hottest during this period was the summer of 2003, when over 19 thousand people died from the heat in Western Europe.

According to forecasts, such a summer will be repeated on average once every two years. The previous hottest was the summer of 1757, data of temperature measurements made then in Scandinavia and Eastern Europe, including western Russia, have been preserved.
