Focus Description:

On the performer's table there is a decanter of water, a tea glass and four small glasses. He takes a decanter and fills a glass and glasses with water. The color of water in all vessels is the same - it is completely transparent. Then the performer pours out the water from all the glasses and wipes them dry. Having done this, he takes a glass of water from the table and pours it into each glass in turn. As the glasses are filled, the color of the water in each of them takes on a different color. In the first glass it turned red, in the second - green, in the third - yellow, and in the fourth glass the water remained clear.

What happened? One might think that some powders were poured into the glasses in advance, which, when combined with water, gave the corresponding chemical reaction, which caused the water in the glass to turn colored. But this explanation is out of the question: after all, the performer began the demonstration of the trick precisely by filling the glasses with clean water, and after pouring it out, he carefully wiped the glasses with a white napkin. This is the best proof that the glasses were indeed perfectly clean. The glass was also filled with absolutely clean and transparent water. Why does the water, getting into the glasses, change color? What is the secret here?

Props:

To demonstrate the trick, you will need: a decanter, four glasses, a thin tea glass, some soap, a white napkin and three powders of paint of different colors, which is used to dye fabrics.

Focus secret:

The decanter is filled with clean water and placed in advance on the illusion table next to the glasses, next to which a napkin is placed. The glass is placed last, having previously prepared it for this trick. And you need to do this before every performance.

Focus Amazing Shot Glasses

The preparation of the glass is as follows. First open the paint bags. Then they take white toilet soap, best of all - used and somewhat damp (if you hold the soap in a closed soap dish, it will become soft, and its top layer will become pasty). This soap paste is what you need. A very small amount of soap paste is applied in three opposite places along the outer edge of the glass. Then each point with soap paste on the edge of the glass is dipped in a bag of powder. Thus, red powder will stick to one point, green to another, and yellow to a third. Since the paint is taken in very small quantities, it is completely invisible to the audience. The focus is now complete. You can start the demonstration.

First, the performer takes a glass and shows it to the audience. Then he puts the glass on the table and fills it with water from a nearby decanter, doing this very carefully so that the water does not splatter and get into the area with the paint. If even the smallest particle of powder gets into the glass, you cannot continue the demonstration of the trick: the water in the glass will become colored.

Therefore, the performer certainly needs to practice at home before demonstrating this experience in front of the audience.

After filling the glass three-quarters and pouring water into the glasses, the decanter is put in place. Then pour the water out of the glasses and wipe them dry with a napkin. Now you can pour water from the glass into the first glass. If you pour it over the edge of the glass in the place where the dot with red paint is, red water will pour into the glass. After filling the first glass, the glass is turned in a circle so that when filling the next glass, water flows through the green dot with paint. Then the third glass is filled with water, washing off the last, yellow dot with paint from the edge of the glass. And the fourth glass is filled with clean water remaining in the glass.

Machine for thinning flowers in gardens 02.05.2024

In modern agriculture, technological progress is developing aimed at increasing the efficiency of plant care processes. The innovative Florix flower thinning machine was presented in Italy, designed to optimize the harvesting stage. This tool is equipped with mobile arms, allowing it to be easily adapted to the needs of the garden. The operator can adjust the speed of the thin wires by controlling them from the tractor cab using a joystick. This approach significantly increases the efficiency of the flower thinning process, providing the possibility of individual adjustment to the specific conditions of the garden, as well as the variety and type of fruit grown in it. After testing the Florix machine for two years on various types of fruit, the results were very encouraging. Farmers such as Filiberto Montanari, who has used a Florix machine for several years, have reported a significant reduction in the time and labor required to thin flowers. ... >>

Advanced Infrared Microscope 02.05.2024

Microscopes play an important role in scientific research, allowing scientists to delve into structures and processes invisible to the eye. However, various microscopy methods have their limitations, and among them was the limitation of resolution when using the infrared range. But the latest achievements of Japanese researchers from the University of Tokyo open up new prospects for studying the microworld. Scientists from the University of Tokyo have unveiled a new microscope that will revolutionize the capabilities of infrared microscopy. This advanced instrument allows you to see the internal structures of living bacteria with amazing clarity on the nanometer scale. Typically, mid-infrared microscopes are limited by low resolution, but the latest development from Japanese researchers overcomes these limitations. According to scientists, the developed microscope allows creating images with a resolution of up to 120 nanometers, which is 30 times higher than the resolution of traditional microscopes. ... >>

Air trap for insects 01.05.2024

Agriculture is one of the key sectors of the economy, and pest control is an integral part of this process. A team of scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Potato Research Institute (ICAR-CPRI), Shimla, has come up with an innovative solution to this problem - a wind-powered insect air trap. This device addresses the shortcomings of traditional pest control methods by providing real-time insect population data. The trap is powered entirely by wind energy, making it an environmentally friendly solution that requires no power. Its unique design allows monitoring of both harmful and beneficial insects, providing a complete overview of the population in any agricultural area. “By assessing target pests at the right time, we can take necessary measures to control both pests and diseases,” says Kapil ... >>

Caterpillars can eat plastic waste 22.04.2017

Scientists from the University of Cambridge accidentally discovered a new ability of the wax moth caterpillar. They, as it turned out, are able to eat polyethylene.

This discovery happened, as the British scientists said, completely unexpectedly. A university researcher has discovered that wax moth caterpillars are in the hives. She collected them and put them in a plastic bag. After a while, she was surprised to notice that they got out of the package, having eaten a hole in it. This interested scientists so much that they conducted an experiment by "offering" various types of polyethylene to these caterpillars.

As it turned out, the body of this type of caterpillars can process up to 12 milligrams of polyethylene in 92 hours. It is possible that this unique ability of theirs can help with the solution of the problem of plastic waste accumulating in the world.
