Focus Description:

If you intend to perform on stage or perform magic tricks to a large group of spectators, then you need to get yourself a "Magic Table". The following sketches give an idea of how to build your own table in a style that is ideal for your goals without spending much work and money. You will receive a prop item that is attractive, easy to make and folds into a flat item that is easy to transport and store.

Focus secret:

A. The table is constructed from thick plywood and two 1x2 inch (2,5x5 cm) pine bar stiffeners. Start by making the following two pieces: Cut two pieces of plywood 36x12" and 36x10".

B. Take a piece of plywood, 12 inches wide, and fasten 1x2 battens to it. Long Beam A is flush with the right side of the panel, and Beam B is half an inch below the top edge of the panel. Stiffener C is anchored 12 inches below Stiffener B. Stiffener D is flush with the bottom edge of the panel. Then tie the sheet with stiffeners. Rib A is fixed on the left side of the panel. Edges B, C and D - the same as on the first panel. Having made the panels, sand the surfaces, preparing them for painting.

C. Mate the side end of the panel flush with the outside of the 12" panel and fasten the two panels together with internal hinges screwed to the studs. You can see that you have created a two-panel screen table base, with each side of the screen 12 inches wide. By installing the panels exactly as shown, you will not allow the screen to unfold more than a right angle, but will store it in a folded state.

D. For the top and inner shelf, you will need to cut an 18" by 12" piece of 10/10" plywood and another XNUMX" square. The larger piece is the countertop. You will cut a square with a side of XNUMX inches diagonally, getting two triangles. One of them will become an internal shelf and will be installed on the C ribs.

E. The second triangle should be glued to the bottom surface of the tabletop. It will ensure the stability of the tabletop on the screen base of the table. Sand the surfaces, preparing them for painting, and now you can assemble the table.

Focus Magic Table

F. To assemble the table, fasten four hook-and-clamp fasteners to the panels, table top and inner shelf: two - on the triangle glued to the table top (brackets - on the adjacent edge); two - on the inner shelf (brackets - on the adjacent edge).

Focus Magic Table

G. With hooks and staples, you also secure the triangular inner shelf.

I. After making sure the structure is rigid, paint the table. First, paint the inside of the screen and inner shelf with black paint. Once the paint is dry, cover the top with black flannel and trim the edges with silver or other equally bright metal trim. Color the front surfaces in the style you want.

Air trap for insects 01.05.2024

Agriculture is one of the key sectors of the economy, and pest control is an integral part of this process. A team of scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Potato Research Institute (ICAR-CPRI), Shimla, has come up with an innovative solution to this problem - a wind-powered insect air trap. This device addresses the shortcomings of traditional pest control methods by providing real-time insect population data. The trap is powered entirely by wind energy, making it an environmentally friendly solution that requires no power. Its unique design allows monitoring of both harmful and beneficial insects, providing a complete overview of the population in any agricultural area. “By assessing target pests at the right time, we can take necessary measures to control both pests and diseases,” says Kapil ... >>

The threat of space debris to the Earth's magnetic field 01.05.2024

More and more often we hear about an increase in the amount of space debris surrounding our planet. However, it is not only active satellites and spacecraft that contribute to this problem, but also debris from old missions. The growing number of satellites launched by companies like SpaceX creates not only opportunities for the development of the Internet, but also serious threats to space security. Experts are now turning their attention to the potential implications for the Earth's magnetic field. Dr. Jonathan McDowell of the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics emphasizes that companies are rapidly deploying satellite constellations, and the number of satellites could grow to 100 in the next decade. The rapid development of these cosmic armadas of satellites can lead to contamination of the Earth's plasma environment with dangerous debris and a threat to the stability of the magnetosphere. Metal debris from used rockets can disrupt the ionosphere and magnetosphere. Both of these systems play a key role in protecting the atmosphere and maintaining ... >>

Solidification of bulk substances 30.04.2024

There are quite a few mysteries in the world of science, and one of them is the strange behavior of bulk materials. They may behave like a solid but suddenly turn into a flowing liquid. This phenomenon has attracted the attention of many researchers, and we may finally be getting closer to solving this mystery. Imagine sand in an hourglass. It usually flows freely, but in some cases its particles begin to get stuck, turning from a liquid to a solid. This transition has important implications for many areas, from drug production to construction. Researchers from the USA have attempted to describe this phenomenon and come closer to understanding it. In the study, the scientists conducted simulations in the laboratory using data from bags of polystyrene beads. They found that the vibrations within these sets had specific frequencies, meaning that only certain types of vibrations could travel through the material. Received ... >>

Lake Chad dried up 04.07.2006

Australian geologists say that only 6000 years ago, the African Lake Chad could compete in size with the modern Caspian Sea.

In images taken from an artificial satellite, researchers from the University of Melbourne saw a sand bank with a total length of more than 2300 kilometers along the perimeter of the lake, but far removed from the current water line. This is the ancient coast of Chad.

Due to climate change in Africa, the lake gradually dried up. Now its surface is only one percent of the previous one, and the average depth has decreased from 160 to 10 meters.
