There are old rules in the art of trick; non-observance of them during the performance can lead to failure and even disruption of individual numbers or the entire performance. These "Six Golden Rules" should always be remembered by both the amateur and the professional when performing in front of the audience:

1. Never warn the audience in advance about what you want to show, otherwise your trick will not make a big impression.

2. Never show a trick right there a second time, no matter how the audience asks you to. An exception can be made only if you know another way of performing and the necessary equipment is ready for a second display.

3. Never explain the "secret" of a trick for the sake of satisfying anyone's curiosity or to show off your knowledge, otherwise your tricks will not succeed.

4. Show the trick in front of the audience only when its "mechanics" are learned by you "by heart" and you learn how to perform it easily and simply.

5. When you fail, don't get lost. If you can't fix a failed trick right away, then laugh along with your audience, and then, as if nothing had happened, boldly move on to the next trick of your program.

6. Never get into an argument with the audience. Remember that you are only performing for them. Try not to hear comments that are unpleasant for you, do not be distracted from the performance of the trick, and only after it is over, if necessary, can you answer the audience cheerfully, without malice.

Fans often ask the question: where can I get props, equipment?

Here you do not have to rely on special craftsmen or the fact that the equipment can be bought in a store. An amateur can make himself the necessary equipment if he has some skills in carpentry and plumbing. Enlist the help of your friends, explain the trick technique to them, and they will help you make props. This is a very interesting and exciting job - making props yourself or with the help of friends. The biggest difficulty in the manufacture of equipment is to achieve the accuracy of all parts. The slightest inaccuracy in any detail can disrupt the focus effect.

If during the session any piece of props fails at least once, then the audience loses interest and all confidence in the performer.

In such a situation, one must have great restraint in order to be able to continue the performance. Therefore, each prop, even the simple one, must not only be made with the utmost precision and purity, but must also be repeatedly checked during rehearsals. An amateur, if he truly loves illusion art, must use not only standard props, but must invent new tricks and make props himself.

Experiment more and bolder in creating new tricks, taking old ones as a basis. Experiment with props. Make wider use of the latest achievements of science and technology, apply the latest achievements of precision mechanics, chemistry and physics. Having created such equipment, in combination with a good manipulation school, you will be able to diversify, update your repertoire and make your performance one of the most interesting numbers in your club's program.

Air trap for insects 01.05.2024

Agriculture is one of the key sectors of the economy, and pest control is an integral part of this process. A team of scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Potato Research Institute (ICAR-CPRI), Shimla, has come up with an innovative solution to this problem - a wind-powered insect air trap. This device addresses the shortcomings of traditional pest control methods by providing real-time insect population data. The trap is powered entirely by wind energy, making it an environmentally friendly solution that requires no power. Its unique design allows monitoring of both harmful and beneficial insects, providing a complete overview of the population in any agricultural area. “By assessing target pests at the right time, we can take necessary measures to control both pests and diseases,” says Kapil ... >>

The threat of space debris to the Earth's magnetic field 01.05.2024

More and more often we hear about an increase in the amount of space debris surrounding our planet. However, it is not only active satellites and spacecraft that contribute to this problem, but also debris from old missions. The growing number of satellites launched by companies like SpaceX creates not only opportunities for the development of the Internet, but also serious threats to space security. Experts are now turning their attention to the potential implications for the Earth's magnetic field. Dr. Jonathan McDowell of the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics emphasizes that companies are rapidly deploying satellite constellations, and the number of satellites could grow to 100 in the next decade. The rapid development of these cosmic armadas of satellites can lead to contamination of the Earth's plasma environment with dangerous debris and a threat to the stability of the magnetosphere. Metal debris from used rockets can disrupt the ionosphere and magnetosphere. Both of these systems play a key role in protecting the atmosphere and maintaining ... >>

Solidification of bulk substances 30.04.2024

There are quite a few mysteries in the world of science, and one of them is the strange behavior of bulk materials. They may behave like a solid but suddenly turn into a flowing liquid. This phenomenon has attracted the attention of many researchers, and we may finally be getting closer to solving this mystery. Imagine sand in an hourglass. It usually flows freely, but in some cases its particles begin to get stuck, turning from a liquid to a solid. This transition has important implications for many areas, from drug production to construction. Researchers from the USA have attempted to describe this phenomenon and come closer to understanding it. In the study, the scientists conducted simulations in the laboratory using data from bags of polystyrene beads. They found that the vibrations within these sets had specific frequencies, meaning that only certain types of vibrations could travel through the material. Received ... >>

Surgeon's black box 06.02.2002

Specialists at Imperial College London are developing a system for recording everything that happens in the surgical operating room. Just as information from the aviation "black box" helps to investigate the causes of accidents, in surgery it will allow us to study in detail each operation, including the reasons for its failure.

Electromagnetic or ultrasonic sensors mounted on the hands of the surgeon will record all his movements. There should also be a record of conversations in the operating room, all vital signs of the patient, and even a record of who and when entered the room during the operation and left it.

The development leader, Ara Darzi, professor of surgery at the Imperial College, says the system will be cheaper than many modern hospital equipment. A spokesman for the British Medical Association expressed concern that the consciousness of constant surveillance would unnerve people engaged in vital work. But the same fears were expressed before the introduction of "black boxes" in aviation.
