Focus Description:

A bottle, a glass and a funnel are placed on a small table. The magician invites the viewer to the stage and invites him to drink lemonade, gives the viewer a glass in his hands, and he himself, taking a funnel and a bottle from the table, says that he is afraid to spill the unusual taste of lemonade, so he decided to pour it into the glass through the funnel. Holds a funnel over a glass and pours lemonade through it. Having filled the glass, he invites the viewer to drink "precious lemonade". The audience drinks.

"Tasty?" - asks the magician. After an affirmative answer, he says: "I am very glad that you liked the lemonade, but I said that this is a precious drink and you will have to pay for it." Names a large amount. The viewer is clearly confused. Then the performer offers to return the lemonade. The viewer is even more embarrassed.

“Well, nothing, calm down,” the magician says, “it’s not for nothing that I have a “magic” wand. Taking a wand, he takes a glass and passes it to his assistant. Approaching the viewer, he touches one end of the wand to the middle of his chest, and to the other end chopsticks puts a funnel.An assistant holds a glass under the funnel.Suddenly everyone notices how lemonade flows from the funnel into the glass, filling it to the brim (Fig. 112).

Focus secret:

The secret of the focus is in the device of the double walls of the funnel. The design of the funnel is shown in fig. 113, A and B. Between the walls of the funnel should fit at least 200 g of liquid. Two holes O are made in the funnel. The lower one serves to release liquid from double walls, the upper one is an air valve that can be clamped with a finger or an elastic band specially made for this purpose. Then the drink will not be able to flow out of the inside of the funnel. One has only to remove a finger or an elastic band, as air will penetrate into the funnel and the liquid will begin to flow out of the bottom hole. From the outside, it will seem to the public that the drink flows through a funnel from a stick placed against the viewer’s chest.

Charging goes like this. The funnel is tightly closed from the inside with a stopper P; the lower end is lowered into a vessel with a liquid (with lemonade), and air is sucked out of the hole O. Lemonade will gradually fill the entire space between the walls of the funnel. Then the hole is closed with the thumb and forefinger and sealed with a piece of soft wax. Remove the cork from the neck of the funnel and place the funnel upside down on the table.

To prevent the liquid from leaking out, you need to, holding the funnel by the handle, quietly remove the wax from the hole with your thumb and pinch it with the same finger. It is possible to attach a valve with a spring on the handle, which will press on the hole and close it with a rubber plate, but such a device will arouse suspicion among the audience: they can easily notice the valve on the handle of the funnel. The system we propose is very simple and quite reliable.
