Focus Description:

The performer is served a plate on which lies a silk scarf. He shakes the handkerchief and shows it from all sides. Taking the handkerchief in his left hand, he shows the plate with his right hand, also turning all sides. The audience makes sure that the plate is empty. Then the magician covers the plate with a handkerchief and, after a few seconds, pulls it off.

Everyone sees that the plate with the top is filled with flowers (Fig. 87).

Focus secret:

The secret of the trick lies in the arrangement of the props. Folding paper flowers take up very little space when folded, and when unfolded, they unfold into a huge bouquet. The design and method of manufacturing such flowers are described by us. The plate only seems ordinary, but in fact it has a complex device, inside it you can hide a pack of folding paper flowers (up to 50 pieces).

On fig. 88, A shows a general view of the plate. The dotted line indicates the doors of the flower compartment. On fig. 88, B, the structure is shown in section. On the side is a door lock lever. With the help of a spring, the lever keeps the doors closed. If you press it, then the doors, under the action of springs embedded in the hinges, will immediately open; At the same time, the flowers are released and, opening up, fill the entire plate, hiding the doors under them.

On fig. 88, B shows the flower compartment built into the bottom of the plate. 1 - lock lever; 2 - door leaves; 3 - hinge springs. The door leaves are located one on top of the other (Fig. 88, D). To capture the upper door with the hook of the lever, a hook 4 is also made on it. Lever 1 is always in the lower position with the help of a spring and holds the upper sash, which, in turn, holds the lower sash with its edge. One has only to press a finger on the end of the lever, which protrudes slightly from the plate, as he releases the flaps, and they open with lightning speed, freeing the flowers.

It is clear that, showing the plate, you should cover the end of the lever with your hand. The flower compartment is extruded from copper in the shape of the bottom of the plate. A hole has been sawn out in the plate, into which all the "mechanics" exactly fit. The device is made in such a way that the upper flaps of the plate are flush with the bottom, and the side outlines accurately reproduce the bottom of the plate. All "mechanics" are carefully glued with very strong glue.

The edges of the secret device inside, on the side and below are carefully puttied, painted over to match the plate and painted with the same pattern, which can perfectly mask the cut line of the doors and the edge inserted into the “mechanics” plate.
