Spectators see that the cane has disappeared, and instead a handkerchief and a bouquet of flowers have appeared in the magician's hands (Fig. 237).

Props:

Cane made of steel spiral tape.

Large beautiful silk scarf.

Folding bouquet of feather or paper flowers.

Focus secret:

The secret of the trick is in the device of the cane (Fig. 238, A). This is a spiral "ribbon spring 2650 long, 45 wide and 0,4 or 0,5 mm thick. The cane can be folded into a small compact bundle in the left hand with lightning speed, and a silk scarf appears in the same hand, and a handle disguised by a bouquet remains in the right hand flowers. This is the whole secret of Focus.

Let us describe the construction of the cane. The tape rolls tightly into a spiral (Fig. 238, D). The black spot in the center is a tube - the tip of cane B. A tape is wound around the tube, one end of which (internal) is released eight centimeters on fire, cut into a cone and thrust into a brass tube (into its cut). The tube is shown in fig. 238,B, where its dimensions are given: length - 60, outer diameter - 12 mm. Inner diameter - 10 mm. The tape inserted with the inner end into the slot is fixed in the middle with a stick cut from copper with a diameter of 10 and a length of 60 mm. To do this, the core is hit several times on the tube near the cut, the length of which is about 45, and the width is 1 mm.

The tube should be painted dark blue to match the color of the spring steel band. The tube made will serve as the lower end of the cane. A silk scarf is attached to the inner copper rod, for which a small ring is soldered in the rod. The upper end of the cane - the handle is machined from copper with a hole inside. The handle is shown separately in fig. B, where the dotted line shows the hole and the stem of the folded feather bouquet inserted into it.

The cane is charged as follows: they take the tube with their left hand, and at this time they twist the spring tape with their right hand in a clockwise direction. The handkerchief will go inside the resulting conical tube E. When the tube is rolled very tightly and stretched to a length of 80 cm, a handle is put on its wide end, having previously tucked in the top of the handkerchief and the bouquet that was attached to it. Putting the handle on the conical spring tube, we finish charging the cane. She will now be held inside the handle. Thus, we got an imitation of a cane.

When demonstrating the number, the illusionist holds the cane by the lower end (tube) with his left hand, and with his right hand by the handle (see Fig. 236). Waving sharply with both hands, the magician at the same time tightly coils the spring with his left, turning the tube counterclockwise (towards himself), and with his right hand turns the handle clockwise (away from himself), thereby removing the handle from the spring conical tube. The spring steel tape will contract with lightning speed in the direction of the tube and curl up, taking the form shown in Fig. 238, D. The performer masks a ribbon with a pipe in his left hand with a handkerchief and a bouquet, and a pen in his right hand. The audience sees that the cane has disappeared and a handkerchief and a bouquet have appeared, which the magician passes to an assistant or puts on a table, hiding the ribbon and pen under the handkerchief and bouquet.

Note that when rolled up, the tape makes a very loud and harsh sound that needs to be drowned out by music. This trick can serve as both a good start and an end to an illusion program.

Machine for thinning flowers in gardens 02.05.2024

In modern agriculture, technological progress is developing aimed at increasing the efficiency of plant care processes. The innovative Florix flower thinning machine was presented in Italy, designed to optimize the harvesting stage. This tool is equipped with mobile arms, allowing it to be easily adapted to the needs of the garden. The operator can adjust the speed of the thin wires by controlling them from the tractor cab using a joystick. This approach significantly increases the efficiency of the flower thinning process, providing the possibility of individual adjustment to the specific conditions of the garden, as well as the variety and type of fruit grown in it. After testing the Florix machine for two years on various types of fruit, the results were very encouraging. Farmers such as Filiberto Montanari, who has used a Florix machine for several years, have reported a significant reduction in the time and labor required to thin flowers. ... >>

Advanced Infrared Microscope 02.05.2024

Microscopes play an important role in scientific research, allowing scientists to delve into structures and processes invisible to the eye. However, various microscopy methods have their limitations, and among them was the limitation of resolution when using the infrared range. But the latest achievements of Japanese researchers from the University of Tokyo open up new prospects for studying the microworld. Scientists from the University of Tokyo have unveiled a new microscope that will revolutionize the capabilities of infrared microscopy. This advanced instrument allows you to see the internal structures of living bacteria with amazing clarity on the nanometer scale. Typically, mid-infrared microscopes are limited by low resolution, but the latest development from Japanese researchers overcomes these limitations. According to scientists, the developed microscope allows creating images with a resolution of up to 120 nanometers, which is 30 times higher than the resolution of traditional microscopes. ... >>

Air trap for insects 01.05.2024

Agriculture is one of the key sectors of the economy, and pest control is an integral part of this process. A team of scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Potato Research Institute (ICAR-CPRI), Shimla, has come up with an innovative solution to this problem - a wind-powered insect air trap. This device addresses the shortcomings of traditional pest control methods by providing real-time insect population data. The trap is powered entirely by wind energy, making it an environmentally friendly solution that requires no power. Its unique design allows monitoring of both harmful and beneficial insects, providing a complete overview of the population in any agricultural area. “By assessing target pests at the right time, we can take necessary measures to control both pests and diseases,” says Kapil ... >>

Lunar radio telescope 17.04.2021

NASA decided to continue work on the creation of the largest filled-aperture radio telescope in the solar system. It is planned to be built in a crater on the far side of the moon.

The project was launched by participants in the NIAC (NASA Innovative Advanced Concepts) scientists support program back in 2020, the first phase of work was completed in April 2021, and now NASA has approved the next phase, which will take two years. $500 was allocated to create a plan for the telescope.

If this stage is completed successfully, specialists from NASA and other companies will join the project.

The Lunar Crater Radio Telescope (LCRT) will allow scientists to study the early universe at wavelengths that are reflected by the Earth's ionosphere and have not been previously described. The moon will become a kind of radio shield capable of isolating equipment from terrestrial radio interference. The DuAxel robots will deploy a wire mesh inside the crater where they will then place the receiver.
