Focus Description:

The performer shows his hands. There is nothing in them. Turning to the audience with his right shoulder, he raises his hands and, again turning to face the audience, runs his right hand along the left lapel of his jacket. He takes his hand away - and the audience sees a flower in his buttonhole (Fig. 1).

Props:

An artificial flower made from fabric. Best of all rose or chrysanthemum. One part of a strong button is sewn to the stem of the flower.

Focus secret:

A piece of tight, strong elastic with a loop at one end so that you can thread a waist belt through it. At the other end of the elastic band, the second part of the button is attached, which can be connected to the half of the button on the flower. A bicycle nipple rubber tube is very good for this purpose, it is elastic and durable.

Elastic band A (Fig. 17) is connected with button B and C to the flower. Then the elastic loop is pulled through the cut of the buttonhole of the left side of the jacket. To do this, carefully make a small hole in the buttonhole. So that it does not tear and does not slow down the elastic band, it is carefully overcast with threads to match the jacket. Care must be taken to ensure that the rubber does not easily pass through the hole. The button B attached to the elastic should easily pass through the lapel loop.

Having passed the elastic loop through the side of the jacket inside, put it on the waist belt. At the same time, the elastic band should be well stretched, and the flower should sit tightly in the buttonhole. Remember that the success of this trick depends on the correct tension of the elastic band. When the elastic is adjusted, they take the flower with their right hand and, moving it under the arm of the left hand, firmly clamp the flower with it.

The elastic should be disguised by painting it in the color of the suit so that it is not noticeable. (In Fig. 18, the elastic is shown with a dotted line.) If for some reason you cannot do this, use another method: make a strong thread (a bunch of 5-6 threads) about 20 cm long from simple threads in the color of the suit. To one end attach button B, and tie the other end to an elastic band. In this case, you will have to take a tighter elastic band so that it can thread a thread into the buttonhole and pull the flower in the same way.
