One of the components of the means of fire and technical protection is fire warning system for employees. The general procedure for designing fire warning systems in buildings and structures establishes fire safety standards.

Warning and management of the evacuation of people in case of fire should be in one of the following ways or a combination of them:

  • the supply of sound and (or) light signals to all premises of the building with permanent or temporary stay of people;
  • broadcasting texts about the need for evacuation, evacuation routes, direction of movement and other actions aimed at ensuring the safety of people;
  • broadcasting specially designed texts aimed at preventing panic and other phenomena that complicate the evacuation;
  • placement of evacuation safety signs on evacuation routes;
  • the inclusion of evacuation safety signs;
  • switching on evacuation lighting;
  • remote opening of emergency exit doors (for example, equipped with electromagnetic locks).

The evacuation warning and control systems should provide for the possibility of its interface with the civil defense warning system, the systems should be switched on from a command impulse generated by an automatic fire alarm or fire extinguishing installation.

Sound alerts must differ in tone from sound signals for other purposes.

Industrial buildings and structures of categories A, B, C, D and D must be equipped with warning and evacuation control systems in accordance with the requirements of NPB 104-03.

Warning and evacuation control systems for buildings of category A and B must be interlocked with technological or fire automation.

In the premises and buildings where there are (work, live, spend leisure time) people with physical disabilities (visually impaired, hearing impaired), warning and evacuation control systems should take into account these features.

Machine for thinning flowers in gardens 02.05.2024

In modern agriculture, technological progress is developing aimed at increasing the efficiency of plant care processes. The innovative Florix flower thinning machine was presented in Italy, designed to optimize the harvesting stage. This tool is equipped with mobile arms, allowing it to be easily adapted to the needs of the garden. The operator can adjust the speed of the thin wires by controlling them from the tractor cab using a joystick. This approach significantly increases the efficiency of the flower thinning process, providing the possibility of individual adjustment to the specific conditions of the garden, as well as the variety and type of fruit grown in it. After testing the Florix machine for two years on various types of fruit, the results were very encouraging. Farmers such as Filiberto Montanari, who has used a Florix machine for several years, have reported a significant reduction in the time and labor required to thin flowers. ... >>

Advanced Infrared Microscope 02.05.2024

Microscopes play an important role in scientific research, allowing scientists to delve into structures and processes invisible to the eye. However, various microscopy methods have their limitations, and among them was the limitation of resolution when using the infrared range. But the latest achievements of Japanese researchers from the University of Tokyo open up new prospects for studying the microworld. Scientists from the University of Tokyo have unveiled a new microscope that will revolutionize the capabilities of infrared microscopy. This advanced instrument allows you to see the internal structures of living bacteria with amazing clarity on the nanometer scale. Typically, mid-infrared microscopes are limited by low resolution, but the latest development from Japanese researchers overcomes these limitations. According to scientists, the developed microscope allows creating images with a resolution of up to 120 nanometers, which is 30 times higher than the resolution of traditional microscopes. ... >>

Air trap for insects 01.05.2024

Agriculture is one of the key sectors of the economy, and pest control is an integral part of this process. A team of scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Potato Research Institute (ICAR-CPRI), Shimla, has come up with an innovative solution to this problem - a wind-powered insect air trap. This device addresses the shortcomings of traditional pest control methods by providing real-time insect population data. The trap is powered entirely by wind energy, making it an environmentally friendly solution that requires no power. Its unique design allows monitoring of both harmful and beneficial insects, providing a complete overview of the population in any agricultural area. “By assessing target pests at the right time, we can take necessary measures to control both pests and diseases,” says Kapil ... >>

Gamers against COVID-19 15.03.2020

If you have a gaming PC, you can use its graphics capabilities to combat the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic.

NVIDIA encourages all gaming PC owners to download the Folding@home app so they can use their PC in their spare time to fight this deadly disease. The application allows you to connect computers in an international network that uses distributed computing power to solve complex computing problems - gaming GPUs are quite suitable for this purpose.

The Folding@home app has been developed for quite some time. Previously, a new series of projects was made available to him to "mimic the potentially drug-resistant target proteins of SARS-CoV-2 (the virus that causes COVID-19) and the related virus SARS-CoV (for which more structural data is available)."

The implementation of these projects could help researchers better understand the coronavirus and, ultimately, possibly develop effective treatments for the disease it causes.

For those who feel helpless in the face of the coronavirus outbreak, participating in projects is a real chance to help fight it, even without a medical degree.
