Focus Description:

The young magician holds an inflated balloon in his hands. Then he takes a long needle, pierces the ball through, but the magic ball remains intact. To demonstrate to the audience that the ball is the most ordinary, the child gently pierces it with a needle. The ball bursts. How is this possible?

Focus secret:

For focus, you need a needle. It should be long, thin, well-pointed and carefully polished, without nicks. Now we stick a piece of adhesive tape on the ball on both sides - and the props are ready. Only first you need to practice piercing the ball exactly in the places "fortified" with adhesive tape quickly and accurately. If you accidentally hit the thin, stretched rubber of the ball with a knitting needle, it will immediately burst.

And nothing that the kid will spoil more than a dozen balls. But then he will be able to surprise guests at a birthday party or friends in kindergarten with a mysterious trick.

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

Improved GPS navigation accuracy 16.02.2013

Scientists at the Carlos III University of Madrid have developed a technology to improve the accuracy of determining the location of a car on an electronic navigation map by 50-90%, according to CNet.

Currently, the accuracy of satellite navigation is about 17 meters, the researchers said. They also managed to reduce the error to 2 meters. To do this, they equipped the vehicle with an accelerometer and a gyroscope and used data from these sensors in combination with data from a GPS receiver.

In addition to improving positioning accuracy, the technology facilitates navigation when there is a temporary lack of GPS signal, which happens when driving in large cities. Scientists believe that their development will help improve the safety of self-driving cars. Ultimately, they want to replace the sensors assembled on board the experimental car with sensors in the driver's smartphone.
