EFFECTIVE FOCUSES AND THEIR CLUES Card frame on a magic wand. Tips for a magician Directory / Spectacular tricks and their clues Focus Description: The magician allows the audience to take out several cards from the deck and, without looking at them, puts the cards into the deck and shuffles them. Putting the deck on a table in full view of the audience, he takes a small metal frame the size of a deck of cards and shows that it is empty and not dissected in any way (Fig. 18, A).
Then taking a deck of cards from the table, the illusionist puts the cards in a frame and puts it on the end of the "magic" wand. Viewers see how the card itself gradually rises up from the frame (Fig. B). The magician asks if the card that the spectator has chosen has come out of the frame correctly. After an affirmative answer, he again asks another spectator: "And what card did you take out?" Having not yet received an answer, the performer looks at the frame from which the card comes out. "Right?" he asks. The next card comes out of the frame, another one follows it, and so all the selected cards appear one at a time. Having finished the trick, the audience is again shown the frame from which the cards were taken out. Props: A deck of playing cards, if the magician knows how to "force" a card, or a special forcing deck, consisting only of such cards as must be allowed to be drawn by the audience. Let's say we need five cards of different names. Then they take seven identical cards, for example, 7 queens of spades, 7 sevens of hearts, etc. The cards are put into a deck. Having unfolded the top 7 cards, the performer invites the viewer to choose "any" card, in fact, he allows him to take out only one of the seven queens of spades. A special nickel-plated copper frame with a tube that is put on the "magic" wand. A special stick with which the cards are pulled out of the frame and rise up. Focus secret: There are two secrets in this trick. The first is the appearance of cards "chosen" by the spectator. The second is in a stick, with which the desired card is fed up, and in a frame. The illusionist has two decks: one contains cards that should "appear" in advance; the performer offers the audience another. The magician determines in advance which cards the spectators should draw. The illusionist places these cards (let's say there are five of them) on top of the deck in this order: first, the card that should appear last (in our case, the fifth), then the penultimate one - the fourth, then the third, the second and, finally, the first. On top of this first card is placed another one, the purpose of which will be discussed below. The design of the stick that feeds the card up is clear from Fig. 19. A strong curved clock spring B is inserted into the metal tube. A metal pin with a thread at the upper end is attached to it; a button head is put on the thread, with which you can move the spring up and down. A slit is made in the tube (Fig. A). In it, and moves with the help of a pin-button spring. For the accuracy of its course, guide grooves made of tin are arranged inside the tube. The lower end of the stick is closed tightly, and at the upper end, in the cork, a small hole is drilled for the spring. The spring in the lower position of the button (in the lowered state) must be extended 1 mm from the upper end of the stick in order to accurately enter the hole in the frame. Sharpen this end of the spring a little so that the card does not slip.
The frame (Fig. 18, A) is made of nickel-plated sheet thin copper. A small tube is attached to the bottom of the frame, which can be put on a stick. The frame is made in such a size that a deck of cards can easily fit into it. The sides on the side, bottom and top are made 5 mm wide. On fig. 19, B shows the plan of the bottom plate - the bottom of the frame. D - compartment where the back card is inserted with a speck outward. She covers the spring from the audience. Even if the frame is turned to them by the other side, they still will not notice the spring. For the back card, strips are made inside, soldered to the sides and bottom of the frame. The entire deck is inserted into the frame unnoticed by the audience. The last card is placed between the stripes. If, after such a charge, the pin-button is slowly pushed up, then under the action of the spring covered by the back card, the next card will appear, which should appear first. In our case, this will be the eight of tambourines (see Fig. 18, B). The magician removes the card that has appeared from the frame, and the spring, under the action of a small spiral spring, will immediately fall down again in order to raise the next card when necessary. In order to prevent the spring from lying on any other card, a small safety device Pr was made (Fig. 19, B). Here is a plan of the bottom plate - the bottom of the frame. G - partition-bar separating the masking card from the entire deck; D - hole for the passage of the spring; Pr - a small planochka for directing the spring to the desired card. On inspection, viewers may pay attention to hole D, but it is so small that they will not attach much importance to it. Author: Vadimov A.A.
