Focus Description:

The magician acquaints the audience with a hollow square profile, in one side of which several curly cuts are made. There is nothing in the profile. He then shows the audience a cylinder, which is also empty. The square profile (hereinafter referred to as the Square) and the cylinder (hereinafter referred to as the Circle), which is inserted into the Square, are installed on an elevated (slightly) stand.

Spectators do not lose sight of the Circle, because the Circle, painted in a contrasting color, is clearly visible through the slits of the Square. Despite such unfavorable conditions, the magician pulls out meter after meter of bright silk shawls and scarves. The magician then again proves that both the Square and the Circle are empty. Having moved the Square and the Circle, the magician shows a small aquarium appeared from nowhere in the form of a bowl with water and a goldfish. This completes this spectacular trick.

Focus secret:

A. The device required for this trick consists of four parts. Part 1 - a stand with a slight elevation, Part 2 - a square profile, in one side of which several figured holes are cut - "Square", Part 3 - a cylinder, the size of which allows it to be placed in a profile - "Circle", and Part 4 - a tube of a smaller diameter to fit in a cylinder. During the focus, the audience will not see this tube at all. It contains what you will show the public, and we will refer to it as the "Hidden Chamber". The upper surface of the stand (Part 1), all the inner surfaces of the Square, except for cutouts, and the outer surface of the Secret Chamber are covered with black velvet. Outside, the Square is painted in a bright color - blue, green or red. The circle should be painted on the outside in some contrasting color with respect to the Square - yellow, orange or silver.

Q. Suppose you complete the trick by showing a bowl of water and a goldfish, as mentioned above. Find a cup that fits exactly into the Hidden Chamber. Place the bowl on the stand as shown in the picture. Fill it up to about half full with water and throw in some goldfish.

C. Put the hidden chamber covered with black velveteen on the bowl. Silk shawls, scarves and other items that you will take out are placed in the Secret Chamber around and on top (be careful) of the bowl.

D. Now put the Square on the Hidden Chamber. You will see an amazing illusion. Through the slits of the Square, one can see that it is, no doubt, completely empty inside. Focus is based on this illusion. Now put the Circle on the Hidden Chamber. The square should be installed with slots towards the hall. You are ready to perform the squaring of the circle trick.

Focus Squaring the circle

1. Draw the audience's attention to the device on the table. Pick up the Square and give it to the audience to check.

2. Put the Square on the stand, putting on the Circle. Do not forget that the slots must face the hall.

3. Now remove the Circle from the Square, leaving the Hidden Chamber in place. Thanks to the black velveteen, the Square seems empty to the public. Make sure the spectators look carefully at the Circle, including through the light. At this point, both the circle and the square look empty.

4. Insert a Circle into a Square. A contrastingly colored Circle placed in a Square is clearly visible to the audience. They don't know that you covered the Hidden Chamber all around.

5. Retrieve from the Hidden Chamber and demonstrate the "magical" appearance of silk shawls, scarves, and so on.

6. After that, show the empty Circle and Square separately again, repeating steps 1, 2, 3 and 4. The audience is sure that nothing else will be taken out, but you lift the Square and put it on its side, as shown in the figure. Only the Circle remains on the stand.

7. Grasp the edges of the Circle and the Hidden Chamber. Pick them up from the stand together. A bowl of goldfish will appear before the astonished spectators.

The squaring device is a a time-honored piece of magician's props. He can be made or bought in different forms, differentdesign and size. You can make it from densecardboard, and of such a size that evenhuman! We remind you again: never reveal a secretfocus Squaring the circle.

Machine for thinning flowers in gardens 02.05.2024

In modern agriculture, technological progress is developing aimed at increasing the efficiency of plant care processes. The innovative Florix flower thinning machine was presented in Italy, designed to optimize the harvesting stage. This tool is equipped with mobile arms, allowing it to be easily adapted to the needs of the garden. The operator can adjust the speed of the thin wires by controlling them from the tractor cab using a joystick. This approach significantly increases the efficiency of the flower thinning process, providing the possibility of individual adjustment to the specific conditions of the garden, as well as the variety and type of fruit grown in it. After testing the Florix machine for two years on various types of fruit, the results were very encouraging. Farmers such as Filiberto Montanari, who has used a Florix machine for several years, have reported a significant reduction in the time and labor required to thin flowers. ... >>

Advanced Infrared Microscope 02.05.2024

Microscopes play an important role in scientific research, allowing scientists to delve into structures and processes invisible to the eye. However, various microscopy methods have their limitations, and among them was the limitation of resolution when using the infrared range. But the latest achievements of Japanese researchers from the University of Tokyo open up new prospects for studying the microworld. Scientists from the University of Tokyo have unveiled a new microscope that will revolutionize the capabilities of infrared microscopy. This advanced instrument allows you to see the internal structures of living bacteria with amazing clarity on the nanometer scale. Typically, mid-infrared microscopes are limited by low resolution, but the latest development from Japanese researchers overcomes these limitations. According to scientists, the developed microscope allows creating images with a resolution of up to 120 nanometers, which is 30 times higher than the resolution of traditional microscopes. ... >>

Air trap for insects 01.05.2024

Agriculture is one of the key sectors of the economy, and pest control is an integral part of this process. A team of scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Potato Research Institute (ICAR-CPRI), Shimla, has come up with an innovative solution to this problem - a wind-powered insect air trap. This device addresses the shortcomings of traditional pest control methods by providing real-time insect population data. The trap is powered entirely by wind energy, making it an environmentally friendly solution that requires no power. Its unique design allows monitoring of both harmful and beneficial insects, providing a complete overview of the population in any agricultural area. “By assessing target pests at the right time, we can take necessary measures to control both pests and diseases,” says Kapil ... >>

Production on TSMC 16FinFET Plus technology 11.11.2014

The new TSMC 16FinFET Plus process technology has been tested in SoC projects. It enables the fabrication of ARM big.LITTLE configurations with high performance ARM Cortex-A57 processor cores operating at up to 2,3 GHz and low power ARM Cortex-A53 processor cores consuming as little as 75 mW.

TSMC announced that its 16nm FinFET Plus (16FF+) semiconductor technology has reached pilot production. It is an improvement on the TSMC 16FF process technology that delivers up to 40% performance improvement over planar 20nm SoC (20SoC) or 50% power savings at the same speed. It is assumed that using the 16FF+ process technology, microcircuits for mobile devices, computers, network equipment and consumer electronics will be produced.

The new process technology has already been tested in SoC projects. It enables the fabrication of ARM big.LITTLE configurations with high performance ARM Cortex-A57 processor cores operating at up to 2,3 GHz and low power ARM Cortex-A53 processor cores consuming as little as 75 mW.

According to the manufacturer, the development of the technical process demonstrates a rapid increase in the percentage of yield of suitable products. Moreover, according to the value of this indicator at the same stage of development, the new technical process turned out to be better than all previous TSMC technical processes. The development ecosystem for 16FF+ includes a large number of CAD tools and more than 100 intellectual property objects tested in silicon.

Full verification of 16FF+ should be completed this month, and approximately 60 projects are planned to be transferred to production over the next year. Mass production should begin in July.
