A. Cut two pieces (A and B) of 12,7x5 inches (12x127 mm) and two other pieces (C and D) of 305x5 inches (9x127 mm) from a sheet of half-inch plywood (229 mm).

C. You will also need three 10x13 inch (254x330 mm) pieces cut from the same half inch (12,7 mm) plywood, E, F and G. One of these pieces (G) should have a hole cut in the center 7x10 inches (178x254 mm), meaning this element will look like a 1,5 inch (38 mm) wide frame.

C. Next, prepare five quarter-inch (6,3 mm) square pieces of Soft Pine, 8 and three-quarter inches each (222 mm) long. You can buy these sticks at any craft store. In addition, you need two 38-inch (XNUMX mm) loops, which you can buy at any hardware store.

Assembling the device is very easy. However, pay attention to the build quality so that the device is reliable and beautiful.

From elements A, B, C and D, assemble a rectangular frame. Make sure A and B overlap ends C and D so that the clear frame opening is 9 inches (228 mm).

E. Next, attach two battens to the top of Element F, which will serve as the removable bottom of the rectangular frame made in step D. To align the elements, mount the frame on the bottom, lay them along the inside walls of the frame, then secure in place with glue and nails . If you did everything right, the frame is easy to install on the bottom, and two bars hold it in place during the performance.

F. To make the lid, line up elements E and G with the long sides and fasten them with loops. When you turn one of the elements on the hinges, the two elements should match: all sides of the resulting structure should be flush.

G. Now turn the cover over and fasten the two bars on the underside of element G as shown in the figure. Follow the procedure outlined in step E to ensure they align exactly with the frame. The construction is almost complete except for the hidden cloth bag that is attached to the lid. The bag is 15 inches long and 9 inches wide (5x381 mm) and should be made from strong, black fabric. Cut a strip of Velcro to the full width of the fabric. (You can sew a zipper here.) Velcro can be bought in the fabric section of large department stores. You will notice that the velcro is made up of two strips of fabric with different textures. Sew one of these along the width of the fabric, stepping back from the edge approximately two inches (241 mm). On the other side of the fabric, sew another Velcro strip (having a different texture) flush with the edge of the fabric as shown.

I. Now fold the fabric as shown in the picture and connect the two strips of Velcro. This will give you a bag that is 6 inches (5 mm) deep and 165 inches (9 mm) wide. Now sew the sides - but only sew them 5 inches (241mm) up from the crease that forms the bottom of the bag.

J. Then place the lid on the table, bottom side up, i.e. G piece up. Place the bag over the lid so that the top edge rests on the hinged side of the G piece. Place the remaining block on the edge of the bag and secure it, and with it the bag, in this place with glue and nails. The bar must be fixed so that it ensures the centering of the cover relative to the frame. This completes the manufacture of the box, and you can assemble all the details into the finished product.

K. Place base F on the table with the boards up. Place the frame on the base and cover E on the frame.

L. Make sure the bag is hanging inside the frame and the box is positioned with the hinges facing the auditorium.

M. After assembling the box and checking how it works, color it to your liking and you can show the trick.

1. After showing the public a rabbit (or other small animal or object), go to the table and open the drawer. The lid should open away from you towards the audience. Place the rabbit carefully in the black bag and fasten it with Velcro. After doing this, close the box with a lid so that the rabbit does not “escape”.

2. You have prepared the "disappearance" of the rabbit and now show the box from all sides, tearing it apart. Although the procedure can be carried out alone, it is better and less risky if you use the services of an assistant. The assistant is standing to the left, and you open the lid, part E, completely so that the audience can see the top surface of this part. Then grasp Part G with your left hand at the bottom edge and remove the entire two piece cover from the Frame. With this movement, you will pull the bag with the animal out of the frame, hiding it from the audience behind part E. The audience did not see both sides of the lid, which you hand to the assistant to hold it. Be careful not to expose the bag attached to the lid when handing it to the assistant.

3. Now pay attention (yourself and the public) to the frame. Slowly lift it off the base as if there is a rabbit inside it. Move it forward and suddenly turn it in your hands, showing that it is empty. Hang an empty frame on the assistant's hand, and again focus on the table. Raise the base, tilting it towards the audience, as if you are hiding something behind it. Take a few steps forward and then slowly turn the base over with a smile. The public will wonder for a long time how the rabbit could have disappeared without a trace.
