EFFECTIVE FOCUSES AND THEIR CLUES Find a lady. Focus Secret Directory / Spectacular tricks and their clues Focus Description: The audience is shown three cards, one of which is a lady. The magician performs a card manipulation and asks the spectator to choose a lady from three face down cards. With the help of deceit, the magician makes it so that the spectator, who thinks he knows which card is the lady, discovers that he was mistaken. Props: Standard deck, second deck for making a fake lady, duct tape, scissors. Focus secret: There are many ways to perform the famous three-card trick, also called Find the Lady. We offer you an algorithm that will allow you to do it in three different ways. One of the methods involves a prepared deck and therefore can be shown only once, and at the first number. Using a Cooked Deck 1. You need to take a queen - let's say the queen of hearts - from the exact same deck and cut off about 2,5 cm from the top. Cut the same piece from the other card (or the other end of the same queen) and fasten both pieces with duct tape (see. figure) so that the tape is inside. 2. Take a queen from the deck you are about to use and put it in your left pocket. Then put the glued piece on a regular card without a picture from the main deck and place this fake queen between two other cards without pictures (I think it's better to use black cards to make the lady stand out from the rest). 3. When you have prepared the deck, fan it, take three cards in your left hand and show them to the audience with the "lady" in the center, as shown in the illustration. Make sure that the "lady" is exactly level with the rest of the cards and no one will be able to tell that this is not a real lady.
4. When all your spectators have a good look at the three cards, put them together, turn your hand palm down so that the cards are face down, and then with your right hand remove the top card and place it face down on the table. 5. Remove the second card, about which everyone is sure that this is a lady, but at the same time leave the glued piece in the left palm. Place a card on the table, then draw a third and complete the row of three cards on the table. The glued piece of the card is just large enough to be easily hidden in the palm of your hand, which you hold aside. 6. Have someone choose the Queen of Hearts and turn over the card. Of course, the viewer is wrong. Anyone else can try - error again. Now ask one of the young spectators to turn over the third card by saying something like "Now Sophia, you show them how it's done - find the lady." Naturally, Sophia will not succeed either. Say, "Oh, my dear, where did the lady go then?" 7. As if by chance, put your left hand in your pocket and say: "I'm not surprised that you didn't find the lady, Sophia, because - look - she's been lying in my pocket all this time." When pulling the lady out of the pocket, replace the glued piece with it (that's why the lady had to be in the left pocket). When you have shown the Queen of Hearts, no one will interfere with adding it to the rest of the cards - and you will again have a standard deck, so you can move on to the next phase of the three-part trick.
Focus Repeat If you are asked to repeat the trick, do not refuse - just take the queen of hearts and two common cards and say: "Okay, look." 1. You can let the spectators check the cards if they want to. Place the lady in your right hand, holding it between your thumb and forefinger, which turn the card to the left as viewed from the audience (see illustration). Bend the card slightly and say "Lady".
2. Take the next card (let's say it's the ten of spades) and place it in front of the lady, holding the bottom of the card with your thumb and the top with your middle and ring fingers; bend slightly again (see picture). Say "ten". Take the third card (let it be the six of clubs) and hold it in the same way in your left hand between your thumb and forefinger and middle finger. Say "Six".
3. Slightly wave your hand and suddenly throw your hand towards the table, holding it palm down, so that no one can see the face of the cards, and throw the lady on the table from right to left. If you practice, you will find that it is very easy to do this without throwing the second card (in our case, the ten of spades) or letting it fall after the queen. When you remove your right hand, throw your left hand forward and throw the six of clubs on the table, face down, to the right side. Then, when you remove your left hand, the right hand throws the ten of spades to the center between the other two cards. All this you must do very quickly, and all the time you must be sure that the faces of the cards are not visible - your viewers should not see them.
4. When three cards are on the table, with both hands, quickly swap the cards in the center and right, moving them clockwise from nine o'clock to three and vice versa. Almost all spectators will be sure that the first card you threw from your right hand onto the table was the ten of spades, and the queen was thus thrown to the center and is now on the right. 5. Ask someone from the audience, let's say Gennady, to find a lady and turn this card over. Do not let everyone look for a lady at once, as someone can choose the right card. When Gennady chooses incorrectly, collect all the cards as if the trick is over. 6. However, if the audience insists, agree to repeat the trick, but this time swap the queen and ten, discarding the ten first. Now the queen will indeed be thrown to the center and then moved to the right. The person you ask to find the lady will almost always choose the card on the left. If he does not live up to expectations and finds a lady, congratulate him and say: "Let's try again." Never show the trick for the third time: in this case, someone will notice what is really happening. Just skip without explanation to the third part. Last focus 1. Show everyone around three cards. Let's assume you are using the same ones. Have the audience check them out, then fan them out face up in your left hand with the lady on top (see picture). When everyone sees them, perform a few shuffles, but keep the lady on top. Align the cards. Make sure the cards are well aligned and their bottoms, tops, and sides match up, otherwise the following steps will be visible. Align the cards carefully after each operation.
2. Take the cards in your left hand, turn your hand palm down, keeping the index finger on one of the long sides and the thumb on the other (see the second picture from the top on the next page). Lightly hold the back of the bottom card roughly in the middle with your second and third fingers. You must now perform a map shift and a double lift. 3. Holding the cards lightly, use your second and third fingers to slide the bottom card back into your palm about a centimeter. Keeping the thumb of the right hand on top of the lady, and the first two fingers under the second card, perform a double lift (see figure). Thus, you will remove the lady and the second card, revealing the bottom card - let it be the six of clubs. The spectators will see this card and the queen, but they will think that you only have the top card in your right hand, and the other two in your left.
4. Now turn your hands over so that the cards are face down; having done this, grasp the top of the card in the left hand with the index finger of the left hand, pushing it into the palm so that the audience does not see that it is one card. Place the two face down cards in your right hand on top of the card in your left hand. If you do this quickly and carefully, no one will notice that you have made a double lift. Now turn your left hand over again so that the audience sees the six of clubs lying on top. The lady is now, of course, in the middle, but the audience thinks that she is at the bottom. Align the cards.
5. Repeat the shift and double lift, opening the ten of spades; this would confirm the viewers' opinion that the ten of spades was in the middle. Now that you've flipped the cards over, the queen is the top card, even though the audience thinks it's the bottom. Fan out the cards face down and ask someone in the audience, say Pavel, to take the lady. He will choose the center card and be surprised to find that it is the six of clubs. 6. If you are asked, you can repeat the trick - you usually succeed. Say after the first operation, "I'll put the lady down." After the second operation: "Now I'll put down the six of clubs." Don't shift and double raise the third time when the cards are face up, as you will reveal a queen. But you can turn over the cards and repeat the operation with the face down cards. Remember: the audience thinks the lady is in the middle, so there is no need to do a double lift now. Just take the top card and put it down. As you do this, have your left thumb push the second card into your palm so that the audience can see that you have two cards in your left hand. Choose another spectator, unfold the cards in front of him like a fan and say: "Well, where is the lady now, Tanya?" If she's watching you closely, she'll pick the top card - the queen is actually the bottom card. You may have seen the three-card trick performed in parks or on the streets, although it is illegal to perform it by law. Sometimes, instead of cards, peas are used under one or three thimbles. Do not think that you can win money from these "professionals" just because now you yourself know how to deceive people with this trick. These people are much more cunning than they seem, and their tricks are more sophisticated. If you see someone win money, know that this is an accomplice. It is customary for them to work in gangs, and often these gangs include pickpockets. There is no way to win against them, so watch for fun, but at the same time, keep an eye on your wallet and never agree to persuasion to "find the lady" yourself. 7. Thank all the spectators who helped you and could not find the lady, and refuse to show the trick again, saying: "Enough already bothering the lady - let her bake her cakes in peace, and we will try something else."
