Focus Description:

The spectator selects and memorizes a card and returns it to the center of the deck. The deck is shuffled.

The magician shows the audience the top card of the deck and places it in the center of the deck so that half of the card protrudes. Then he takes the bottom card of the deck and places it directly under the previous one so that it also protrudes. Finally, he takes another card from the bottom of the deck and places it above the first two. The spectators know what cards are coming out of the deck.

The spectator is asked to take the protruding cards with the thumb and forefinger and push them into the deck. As a result, several cards protrude from the other side. The magician asks the viewer to push them back. This time one card favors the original hand.

The magician asks the spectator which card he has chosen and asks him to take the protruding card from the deck. This is the same card.

Focus secret:

1. Hand out the cards to a spectator, let's call him Arthur, and ask him to take them off. Fan them out face down and ask them to choose a card, look at it and memorize it. Let it be the jack of spades. While he is doing this, separate the fan where the card was taken from and align the two halves, holding the bottom half in your left hand and the top half in your right hand. Ask Arthur to return the card to the top of the bottom half.

2. Pass with the two halves of the deck to move the chosen card to the top of the deck, and immediately proceed to fake shuffles 3 and 4 to keep it there.

3. Take the deck in your left hand and explain to the audience that now that the cards are well shuffled, in an attempt to find Arthur's card, you are going to put the top and bottom cards in the middle of the deck. As you say this, perform a double lift 2. Show the audience the "top" card, let's say it's the six of diamonds (the real top card is, as we know, Arthur's card).

Focus Push-Pull
A deck with the first card protruding (actually, the card chosen by the spectator is protruding)

Focus Push-Pull
The magician demonstrates to the public decks with the first two cards protruding. The bottom card, in this case the three of hearts, is inserted behind the two previously inserted

4. Tell the audience: "The top card is the six of diamonds." Return the double-raise cards to the top of the deck and take the deck in your right hand, saying: "And the bottom card (look at it) is the four of clubs." Take the deck so that the audience can see the bottom card.

5. Now take the deck with your left hand, holding your hand palm down so that the audience does not see the front side of the two cards that you actually put in the deck.

6. Take the top card from the deck and place it in the middle of the deck so that about half of it protrudes (see picture). Say, "I'll put the six of diamonds over here," when it's actually the jack of spades. Now take the bottom card of the deck and place it in the deck below the first one (four or five cards below), saying, "I'll put the four of clubs right under it, right here."

7. Now you can take the deck and show it to the audience (see picture). Point to the two protruding cards and say, "Four of clubs and six of diamonds. Now I need a third card, so I'll take it from the bottom." Let's say it's a three of hearts.

8. Draw out the XNUMX of hearts, turn the hand over again palm down and insert the XNUMX of hearts four or five cards later above the top protruding card. Now you have a deck in your hand, which from the side looks like the one shown in the illustration. Take it again so that it is turned to face the audience, and pointing to the three protruding cards, say: "Four of clubs, six of diamonds, three of hearts." The spectators can of course see the four of clubs, but they cannot see the other two cards, the middle of which is actually Arthur's card, the jack of spades.

Focus Push-Pull
A deck with three protruding cards

Focus Push-Pull
A spectator pushes three protruding cards - and a wedge of cards protrudes from the other side

9. Now, holding the deck in your hand, ask Arthur to take the three protruding cards with the thumb on top and the rest of the fingers underneath (show him how) and tell him to push the three cards back into the deck. While he does this, hold the long sides of the deck firmly and lightly press down on the top card with your index finger.

10. When Arthur pushes the cards into the deck, a wedge of cards (about ten) will come out of the deck on the other side (see picture). Tell Arthur, "Look what you've done." Rotate the deck around so that the protruding cards face him again. Say, "Push them back again like the first three cards."

Unless you have read this manual with cards in hand, you may not believe that this trick works. I advise you not to be lazy, take the cards and try to follow the description given - you will see that everything is real. Sometimes if you hold the cards too tightly or too loosely, it may not look as smooth, so practice pushing the protruding cards back and forth alone until you are sure that everything goes smoothly every time. Focus is more impressive than this simple operation. Once you've mastered it, you may be able to come up with your own reprise to make the trick look more sophisticated.

11. When Arthur does this, this time there will be only one card protruding from the other side of the deck. Tell Arthur: "Look, it's better, now only one card has come out. Wouldn't it be amazing if this is the same card that you chose and thought of?" Arthur says he chose the jack of spades. Ask him to take a card protruding from the deck and look at it - of course, this is the jack of spades.

Air trap for insects 01.05.2024

Agriculture is one of the key sectors of the economy, and pest control is an integral part of this process. A team of scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Potato Research Institute (ICAR-CPRI), Shimla, has come up with an innovative solution to this problem - a wind-powered insect air trap. This device addresses the shortcomings of traditional pest control methods by providing real-time insect population data. The trap is powered entirely by wind energy, making it an environmentally friendly solution that requires no power. Its unique design allows monitoring of both harmful and beneficial insects, providing a complete overview of the population in any agricultural area. “By assessing target pests at the right time, we can take necessary measures to control both pests and diseases,” says Kapil ... >>

The threat of space debris to the Earth's magnetic field 01.05.2024

More and more often we hear about an increase in the amount of space debris surrounding our planet. However, it is not only active satellites and spacecraft that contribute to this problem, but also debris from old missions. The growing number of satellites launched by companies like SpaceX creates not only opportunities for the development of the Internet, but also serious threats to space security. Experts are now turning their attention to the potential implications for the Earth's magnetic field. Dr. Jonathan McDowell of the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics emphasizes that companies are rapidly deploying satellite constellations, and the number of satellites could grow to 100 in the next decade. The rapid development of these cosmic armadas of satellites can lead to contamination of the Earth's plasma environment with dangerous debris and a threat to the stability of the magnetosphere. Metal debris from used rockets can disrupt the ionosphere and magnetosphere. Both of these systems play a key role in protecting the atmosphere and maintaining ... >>

Solidification of bulk substances 30.04.2024

There are quite a few mysteries in the world of science, and one of them is the strange behavior of bulk materials. They may behave like a solid but suddenly turn into a flowing liquid. This phenomenon has attracted the attention of many researchers, and we may finally be getting closer to solving this mystery. Imagine sand in an hourglass. It usually flows freely, but in some cases its particles begin to get stuck, turning from a liquid to a solid. This transition has important implications for many areas, from drug production to construction. Researchers from the USA have attempted to describe this phenomenon and come closer to understanding it. In the study, the scientists conducted simulations in the laboratory using data from bags of polystyrene beads. They found that the vibrations within these sets had specific frequencies, meaning that only certain types of vibrations could travel through the material. Received ... >>
