Ask a spectator in the audience to think of any number consisting of one or two digits. Then say that there is no way you can know what that number is, and offer to do the following.

1. Double the number.
2. Add 12.
3. Divide the amount by 2.
4. Subtract the original number from it.

Ask: "Are you thinking about the number 6 right now?" Try this trick on yourself first and you will see that this sequence of calculations always ends up with the number 6, no matter which number you choose initially.

Focus secret:

When repeating this technique, ask the viewer to add another number in the second step (say 18). The final answer will be half of this number (namely 9).
