Focus Description:

There is a gun and a plate on the table. Take a gun and, in front of the audience, insert a whole cartridge into it. Invite one of the spectators and, handing him a loaded gun, ask him to move a few meters away from you, aim at you and shoot. With a plate in your hands, stand facing the viewer. At your command, a shot will be fired, after which, remaining safe and sound, spit out the caught bullet from your mouth onto a plate and show it to the audience. You can even after this: take the gun, pull out the used cartridge (empty cartridge case) from it and demonstrate it to the audience.

Focus Caught Bullet

Focus secret:

The trick is demonstrated using a gun that is actually a fake, with a working trigger mechanism. A regular piston is inserted into the cartridge, and the bullet, which is easily removed from it, does not fly out anywhere when fired. The second exactly the same bullet is in your mouth from the very beginning - under your tongue, which allows you to easily and freely talk with the audience. After a blank shot is fired (which appears real to the audience), spit out the bullet hidden under your tongue onto a plate and demonstrate it to the audience as if it had come out of a gun. When removing a cartridge from a gun, discreetly remove the bullet from the casing or leave it in the barrel of the gun.

Focus Caught Bullet

You can demonstrate the trick more effectively. In this case, you can even invite the viewer to mark the bullet being inserted into the gun with something (a nail), and demonstrate this same marked bullet on a plate. To do this, you can remove the bullet from the cartridge case and, when it is marked, insert it, replace it with another one, or insert an empty cartridge case without a bullet. And the marked bullet, hidden in the hand, is discreetly placed under the tongue.

There is another option with a bullet marked by the viewer. It does not necessarily have a cartridge: a piston can simply be inserted into the gun in advance to make the sound of a “shot”. In this embodiment, the bullet marked by the viewer without a casing is lowered by you into the hole of the muzzle and then, as it were, pushed through with a ramrod. When the bullet is lowered into the barrel, it actually falls into your hand through a small hole under the barrel, located on the opposite side of the muzzle.

Whichever option you use, be sure to open and quickly close your mouth at the moment of the shot, thereby imitating catching a “bullet flying out of a gun.”

Machine for thinning flowers in gardens 02.05.2024

In modern agriculture, technological progress is developing aimed at increasing the efficiency of plant care processes. The innovative Florix flower thinning machine was presented in Italy, designed to optimize the harvesting stage. This tool is equipped with mobile arms, allowing it to be easily adapted to the needs of the garden. The operator can adjust the speed of the thin wires by controlling them from the tractor cab using a joystick. This approach significantly increases the efficiency of the flower thinning process, providing the possibility of individual adjustment to the specific conditions of the garden, as well as the variety and type of fruit grown in it. After testing the Florix machine for two years on various types of fruit, the results were very encouraging. Farmers such as Filiberto Montanari, who has used a Florix machine for several years, have reported a significant reduction in the time and labor required to thin flowers. ... >>

Advanced Infrared Microscope 02.05.2024

Microscopes play an important role in scientific research, allowing scientists to delve into structures and processes invisible to the eye. However, various microscopy methods have their limitations, and among them was the limitation of resolution when using the infrared range. But the latest achievements of Japanese researchers from the University of Tokyo open up new prospects for studying the microworld. Scientists from the University of Tokyo have unveiled a new microscope that will revolutionize the capabilities of infrared microscopy. This advanced instrument allows you to see the internal structures of living bacteria with amazing clarity on the nanometer scale. Typically, mid-infrared microscopes are limited by low resolution, but the latest development from Japanese researchers overcomes these limitations. According to scientists, the developed microscope allows creating images with a resolution of up to 120 nanometers, which is 30 times higher than the resolution of traditional microscopes. ... >>

Air trap for insects 01.05.2024

Agriculture is one of the key sectors of the economy, and pest control is an integral part of this process. A team of scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Potato Research Institute (ICAR-CPRI), Shimla, has come up with an innovative solution to this problem - a wind-powered insect air trap. This device addresses the shortcomings of traditional pest control methods by providing real-time insect population data. The trap is powered entirely by wind energy, making it an environmentally friendly solution that requires no power. Its unique design allows monitoring of both harmful and beneficial insects, providing a complete overview of the population in any agricultural area. “By assessing target pests at the right time, we can take necessary measures to control both pests and diseases,” says Kapil ... >>

20TB WD Ultrastar DC HC650 SMR hard drive 19.12.2019

Western Digital (WD) has launched the world's first 20TB hard drive. The Ultrastar DC HC650 SMR model is made in a 3,5-inch form factor and is aimed at corporate clients, as well as for use in data centers.

Together with the 20 terabyte HDD, Western Digital also released a 3,5-inch 18 terabyte version of the Ultrastar DC HC550 CMR, which differs from the older model not only in capacity.

One of the main differences between Western Digital's new hard drives is the recording technology used. The younger model uses CMR (Conventional Magnetic Recording, the classic method of magnetic recording), and the older model uses SMR (Shingled Magnetic Recording, tiled recording with overlapping tracks).

Ultrastar DC HC550 CMR and Ultrastar DC HC650 SMR hard drives contain nine plates each, placed in a hermetic chamber filled with helium using HelioSeal technology. Both drives are equipped with vibration compensation mechanisms and three-stage microdrives.

To improve reliability, Western Digital has equipped its new products with humidity and temperature sensors. Both drives are available in SATA III (6Gb/s bandwidth) and SAS III (12Gb/s) interface versions. The drives are covered by a five-year warranty, and each of them is designed to overwrite up to 550 TB of data per year.
