Focus Description:

Place a small empty cage on a table with a thin lid. Cover it with the two newspapers you took from the table. Moving two or three meters away from the table, fire a pistol shot in his direction. From the shot, the newspapers will fall from the cage, and the bird will be in the cage!

Focus secret:

The secret of the focus is that there are several of them in focus at once. The wire cage, made of a single wire, has a round 5 cm inlet hole in the center of the bottom (Fig. a).

Inside the hollow leg of the table (its diameter is 4 cm) there is a weak long spring. The upper end of the spring is closed with a round plywood: the spring must reach in the open state to the very top of the cover (fig. b).

Before showing the focus, compress the spring, and lower the bird into the resulting space of the legs. Place two folded newspapers on the table cover (fig. c) so that the spring does not push the bird out.

Place an empty cage on the open palm of your right hand, then from the side the hole in the bottom will be invisible. Lower the cage upside down on the table, at the same time removing the newspapers with the other hand and opening the hole above the bird. Place the cage in such a way that the hole is immediately behind the outlet in the table lid, and the cage mesh prevents the bird from being pushed out.

Cover the empty cage with an open newspaper (the one on top), but so that it hangs from the cage along. This newspaper has a piece of thin fishing line 3 m long, attached at one end to the edge of the newspaper. At the moment when you cover the cage with the second newspaper across, laying it on top of the first, slightly move the cage with the newspaper forward a little. Both holes will be aligned, and the spring will easily push the bird into the cage, which will not be visible to the audience under the newspaper. Moving away from the table to the side along with the starting (or fake) pistol, grab the free tip of the fishing line (Fig. D).

Pointing the gun at the side of the table, fire a shot and at the same time slightly lower your hand with the gun down. Both newspapers will slide off the table, and the audience will see a bird appear in a cage. Then the cage can be taken from the table, placing it upside down on the open palm, thereby showing that the table did not play any role in the appearance of the bird in the cage.

A group of engineers from the American firm "Bell" drew attention to the fact that part of the radio waves emitted by the telephone antenna is reflected from the chest, heart and lungs of its carrier. And since these organs move rhythmically, the frequency of the reflected waves changes accordingly due to the Doppler effect.

These fluctuations are very small - only one billionth part, but they can be caught. Engineers are now going to add a small circuit to the mobile phone that will detect Doppler changes and transmit information about them to the base station, where processing will extract information about the vital signs of the person in whose hand or pocket the phone is located.

To get information about the work of the heart and lungs, just call the device. The Doppler information will be superimposed on the return signal indicating that the called phone is on and ringing. But you can also do this during a conversation - very low frequency signals are easy to filter out from the voice signal.

The proposed technology will be especially useful for finding and determining the condition of people in the rubble after an earthquake or other disasters.
