Many shortwave players, and especially contestmen, are well aware of the problems with the vocal cords that arise during almost continuous and long (in time) work on the air. Yes, and it is problematic (without looking up from work on the air) to drink tea or coffee, smoke a cigarette. I'm not talking about food anymore. To alleviate these problems allows the proposed digital tape recorder (DM), which has proven itself on the positive side both in terms of technical indicators and at its relatively acceptable cost (compared to branded designs of a similar purpose).

This design was created on the basis of a commercially produced in Poland designer (printed circuit board, DD1 chip (ISD1420) and documentation) of a single-program recorder and playback device with an appropriate amount of ROM stored in time (even when the power supply is turned off). The amount of ROM depends on the type of DD1 chip used - the last two digits in its designation indicate the corresponding amount (in seconds). The CM shown in the diagram has a ROM capacity for recording for 20 seconds. The current consumption is less than 20 mA.

Its further modernization is also possible by "breaking down" one ROM program into several (for example, into four - 5 seconds each).

The CM is assembled on a printed circuit board measuring 50 x 65 mm. The microcircuit is installed using a socket.

In the design, it is advisable to use your own "recording" electret microphone (BM1). True, it is also possible to re-switch (in the "record" mode) to this input - the "basic" microphone of the transceiver, as well as operational switching to its input of the output low-frequency signal of the transceiver ("on-the-air recording" mode). It will not be superfluous to install a small-sized control speaker (BA1), which, if necessary, is turned on by a toggle switch (SA1). Potentiometer R7 selects the required level of output voltage - sufficient for the microphone input of the transceiver (this output is connected to the microphone of the transceiver in parallel).

Other governing bodies of the CM:

  • SB1 - playback from ROM (while holding the button). When it is "released", playback stops and the program "becomes" to its original (initial) position.
  • SB2 - playback from ROM (full playback of the program from a short press of a button).
  • SB3 - write to ROM (while holding the button). In this case, the LED VD1 is on. When the button is released, the recording stops and the program "becomes" to its original (initial) position.

Program recording option:

  • "United Sugar Seven Whiskey (US7W), CO CQ CONTEST, QRZ"

Options for using the recorded program:

  1. Using the SB1 button - only the playback of the text "US7W" (for example, when calling on a "foreign" frequency of the transmitting station -CQ (QRZ) CONTEST ".
  2. Using SB2 or SB1 - to play the full text of the program (when working on "own" frequency).

It should be noted that the proposed CM may have other applications.

For example, installed in a car, it can inform the driver about speeding, low battery, low fuel, etc., and can also be used in a voice repeater to identify its call sign or use it as a "bulletin board".

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

Petgugu Global cat litter 15.04.2024

Taking care of pets can often be a challenge, especially when it comes to keeping your home clean. A new interesting solution from the Petgugu Global startup has been presented, which will make life easier for cat owners and help them keep their home perfectly clean and tidy. Startup Petgugu Global has unveiled a unique cat toilet that can automatically flush feces, keeping your home clean and fresh. This innovative device is equipped with various smart sensors that monitor your pet's toilet activity and activate to automatically clean after use. The device connects to the sewer system and ensures efficient waste removal without the need for intervention from the owner. Additionally, the toilet has a large flushable storage capacity, making it ideal for multi-cat households. The Petgugu cat litter bowl is designed for use with water-soluble litters and offers a range of additional ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

New speed record for electric boats 22.06.2018

Jaguar broke the water speed record for boats equipped with electric propulsion with a boat powered by two electric motors producing a total of 299 horsepower.

Jaguar has partnered with Williams Advanced Engineering to develop the 320kg Jaguar Vector Racing V20E powered by a 299 horsepower powerplant. With his help, a new world record was set.

The previous speed record for electric boats is 76,8 miles per hour (approximately 123,5 kilometers per hour); it was installed in 2008. Jaguar, on the other hand, managed to beat it by 19 km / h - its boat was able to reach an average speed of 88,61 miles per hour (142,6 km / h) on the basis of two races in opposite directions; the speed was recorded over a one-kilometer section.

The absolute water speed record was set in 1978 and is 511 km/h.
