However, not every image can be captured. Here, let's say, a virtual image that is obtained in a mirror can only be seen with the eye. It's impossible to catch him. In fact, take a sheet of white paper and try to position yourself with it so that the image given by the mirror appears on this sheet as on a screen. You don't have to try too hard. It still won't work!

But the lens makes it possible to catch an image, get it on a piece of paper, on a screen, on a photographic plate. Recall at least the experience with the incendiary glass. After all, a dazzlingly bright spot that burns through the paper is a captured image of the Sun! Of course, it is reduced: after all, the Sun is very far from us, and there is only one lens. But it is no longer imaginary, but quite real. The paper is on fire!

With the help of a lens, other real images can also be obtained. You can, for example, get on a sheet of paper or on a white wall an image of the window of your room and the street behind it. This experience is best achieved in the evening, when it is still light outside, but dusk is already gathering in the room.

Image can be caught

In a dark room, it is easy to get a real image of a candle. At a distance of 1 m from a burning candle, hold a magnifying glass, and a few centimeters behind it - a sheet of white paper. By moving the magnifying glass back and forth a little, you will soon get a sharp image of a candle on paper. It will be inverted and reduced. Just like the picture of the window in previous experience!

You can also get an enlarged real image of the candle. To do this, the magnifying glass must be brought closer to the candle. The enlarged image will also be upside down. You have seen real images more than once and love them very much. These are images on a movie screen. After all, the lens of a film projection apparatus is several optical glasses, with the help of which a small picture on the film is cast in an enlarged form onto the screen!

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

Petgugu Global cat litter 15.04.2024

Taking care of pets can often be a challenge, especially when it comes to keeping your home clean. A new interesting solution from the Petgugu Global startup has been presented, which will make life easier for cat owners and help them keep their home perfectly clean and tidy. Startup Petgugu Global has unveiled a unique cat toilet that can automatically flush feces, keeping your home clean and fresh. This innovative device is equipped with various smart sensors that monitor your pet's toilet activity and activate to automatically clean after use. The device connects to the sewer system and ensures efficient waste removal without the need for intervention from the owner. Additionally, the toilet has a large flushable storage capacity, making it ideal for multi-cat households. The Petgugu cat litter bowl is designed for use with water-soluble litters and offers a range of additional ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

Public map of the state of the world's forests 27.02.2014

On February 20, 2014, the World Resources Institute, in partnership with Global Forest Watch, launched a new website. In tandem with this site, a geographic information system based on ArcGIS technologies was launched, which allows you to quickly track the loss of forests around the world.

The new geoinformation service allows monitoring the state of the planet's forests in near real time and combines satellite observation data, maps of protected areas, information from researchers' mobile terminals, and an array of information from Esri databases, such as Landsat.

The new geo-information service Global Forest Watch is intended for everyone who is interested in preserving the forests of our planet, including volunteers, government officials, buyers and suppliers of wood. According to Esri experts, real-time monitoring using geoinformation technologies should improve the efficiency of forest resource management, improve the quality of life of people and the ecological situation.

With the help of a geographic information portal on the Esri platform, anyone can now get data collected by Global Forest Watch specialists - information from satellites and from many other sources. Moreover, authorized users can add new datasets and applications to implement their research projects, which involve the analysis of various indicators related to changes in the forest cover of the planet and individual regions.

Global Forest Watch is a partnership of over 40 organizations led by the World Resources Institute. This community traditionally makes extensive use of geographic information systems designed for forest resource management. Unfortunately, monitoring the state of forest cover is still a difficult problem. Meanwhile, there are fewer and fewer untouched forests on the planet. So, contrary to the popular belief that Russia is a country of vast expanses of untouched nature, according to 10-year-old data, only 26% of Russian forest areas have escaped the impact of industrial and agricultural human activities. The control of forest use is complicated by the fact that traditional methods of monitoring often do not keep up with the pace of industrial development.
