If you manage to get camphor and ether, you can make another very interesting toy.

Through the circle cut off from the cork, pass two thin needles crosswise. If there is no cork, Styrofoam, a hard and very light porous plastic, is fine. At the ends of the needles, strengthen four small cork plates. Glue camphor crystals to the plates as shown in the drawing. You can glue it with sealing wax. Drop sealing wax on the cork, heat it over a candle or match and put a camphor crystal on it with tweezers. And you can glue it with BF-2 glue.

Here, too, it is very important that there is not the slightest trace of fat. Work with clean hands. Take the finished turntable with tweezers and rinse in the air. After that, in no case do not take it with your hands, but only with tweezers. Wash the bowl in which the spinner will float in hot water with soda or washing powder.

Tireless dancers

Put the spinner on the water. It should start spinning fast. If everything is in order, cut out a dancing couple from thin (writing) paper and glue it on a cork circle. These will be the most tireless dancers in the world. They can spin for three days without stopping, until the camphor crystals become very small.

Invite a friend to guess what force makes these dancers whirl. It is unlikely that he will guess that the force of reaction works here too!

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

Petgugu Global cat litter 15.04.2024

Taking care of pets can often be a challenge, especially when it comes to keeping your home clean. A new interesting solution from the Petgugu Global startup has been presented, which will make life easier for cat owners and help them keep their home perfectly clean and tidy. Startup Petgugu Global has unveiled a unique cat toilet that can automatically flush feces, keeping your home clean and fresh. The device connects to the sewer system and ensures efficient waste removal without the need for intervention from the owner. Additionally, the toilet has a large flushable storage capacity, making it ideal for multi-cat households. The Petgugu cat litter bowl is designed for use with water-soluble litters and offers a range of additional ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

Invisible car speakers 24.11.2022

Korean LG Display showed a new development for cars, a very thin Thin Actuator Sound Solution speaker, which the company called "invisible". Due to their modest size and low weight, such speakers can be placed in the most unexpected and previously inaccessible places, hiding from the eyes as much as possible. Although compact, the Thin Actuator Sound Solution vibrates to deliver rich, three-dimensional sound.

LG managed to reduce the size and weight by removing the voice coil, magnet and other components of traditional speakers. The Actuator Sound Solution uses a so-called film exciter: thanks to it, the device is able to transmit vibration to surrounding materials.

Speaker dimensions - 150 millimeters high and 90 millimeters wide, which is slightly larger than the size of a regular passport. The thickness is only 2,5 millimeters, and the weight is 40 grams. This will allow manufacturers to embed an innovative speaker that does not need to be played in almost any part of the cabin. For example, it can be hidden in the upholstery of the canvas, the central tunnel, the front panel and the head restraints.

In addition, the Actuator Sound Solution does not use rare elements such as neodymium commonly used in speakers. Thanks to this, the device turned out to be even more environmentally friendly.

According to the developers, in terms of sound quality, the novelty is not inferior to standard speakers. The Thin Actuator Sound Solution will go on sale next year.
