If you have a round tin of at least instant coffee, you can make a beautiful toy based on balance. Its structure is clear from the figure.

Punch a hole in the center of the bottom and lid with a nail. You need to punch it on a board that you don’t mind ruining. Bend an axle from thick wire with a knee in the middle and attach a lead weight to this knee or put on a heavy nut.

Close the jar by inserting the ends of the axle into the holes in the bottom and lid. Draw a clown on paper, glue it onto cardboard and cut it out. Attach the legs to the ends of the axle protruding from the can.

barrel riding

Push the can to make it roll. The clown will sit “astride a barrel” and bow cheerfully!

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

Unlock smartphone with ear 22.06.2015

The United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) has granted Amazon Patent #9,049,983 for its Ear recognition as device input technology.

Behind the intricate name lies a new system for identifying smartphone users. It is assumed that the blocking from the mobile device will be removed based on information about the shape, size and structural features of the auricle.

It is claimed that this method allows to achieve the same high accuracy as fingerprint scanning.

To take data on the structure of the auricle, it is proposed to use the front camera of the mobile device. The obtained indicators will be compared with the "digital portraits" in the database, after which the user will either be granted access or not, depending on the results of the check.

How convenient the new system will be in practice is a question. After all, to gain access to the smartphone, the user will have to bring it to his ear. Observers believe that fingerprint scanning looks like a simpler and more acceptable solution.
