Take a small cylindrical medicine bottle (for example, one that sells "brilliant greens", boric acid, etc.: it has a good transparent glass, and it closes with a rubber stopper or a stopper made of plastic). Wash it well, pour water to the very edge and cork. So far, a small collective cylindrical lens has turned out. If you apply it to a comb, you can clearly see how it increases the teeth. And now make a diverging lens out of it. To do this, it is necessary that one side of it be concave. Remove the stopper and pour off a drop of water. Diffusion lens

This air bubble formed the concavity we needed in the surface of the water. At this point, our lens has become divergent. Looking through it the teeth of a comb or the letters of a newspaper, you will see that it reduces the image. But our diffusing lens is affected by the convex wall of the bottle on the other side. Therefore, the best result is obtained if the diffusing lens is made from a flat vial.
