The pitch of the sound depends on the vibrational frequency of the sounding body. Take three combs with different tooth frequencies. If you run them with teeth over a piece of thick paper, a postcard, or a piece of celluloid film, then depending on the frequency of the teeth, you will hear a sound of different pitch.

A comb that has large teeth that are not very often spaced sounds lower in tone than one that has smaller teeth and a higher frequency.
