ENCYCLOPEDIA OF RADIO ELECTRONICS AND ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING Pseudo stereo mode on the TV. Encyclopedia of radio electronics and electrical engineering Encyclopedia of radio electronics and electrical engineering / Телевидение To improve the soundtrack in domestic and imported TVs, you can add the "Pseudo-stereo" mode to them. Under what conditions and how this can be done, is described in the article published here. A large number of televisions available for sale and in use by consumers have predominantly monophonic sound. And many users would like to have stereo or at least pseudo-stereo accompaniment, which significantly improves sound perception. But if only one dynamic head is built into the TV, then nothing can be changed without the use of additional acoustic systems. However, if the TV has two built-in heads on the sides of the case, and the 3H power amplifier has two separate channels, then by adding a simple device, you can enter the "Pseudo-stereo" mode into the TV. This mode can be supplemented with stereo models that do not have it. The easiest way for this purpose is to use the TDA3810 chip from PHILIPS. This is a surround sound processor, a detailed description of which was given in [1]. The magazine has already described the use of this microcircuit in ZUSCT TVs [2]. Here we offer the option of installing a processor in a modern imported TV LG - 21S10E (chassis MS-84A) of South Korean production. This model provides monophonic sound, but on the sides of its body are two full-range dynamic drivers with a maximum power of 15 watts each. In addition, the TV uses a two-channel power amplifier based on the LA4282 chip (the designation on the printed circuit board is IC601). The 3H signal enters the input of each channel through resistors R604 (left channel) and R601 (right channel) connected together. Before that, a 3H monophonic signal passes through the KIA4558P (IC603) chip. It creates a bass boost in the signal when operating in UBB (ULTRA BASS BOOSTER) mode. They control the activation of the mode from the remote control by pressing the "UBB" button. At the same time, a symbol in the form of two intersecting rings with triangles on the sides is displayed on the TV screen for three seconds. In this mode, a constant voltage of +680 V appears at the output of the base of transistor Q4,8. If this mode is off, the voltage is close to zero. All of the above is necessary in order to be able to more clearly imagine which signals can be used in refinement and where to connect the design described below. The schematic diagram of the pseudo-stereo converter proposed for improvement on the TDA3810 chip is shown in fig. 1. Moreover, a typical inclusion is applied with minor changes. Its conclusions 7 and 8 for indicator LEDs are left free. One of the control pins (12) is connected to a common wire, since the "Extended stereo" mode is not used in the device. The second control output (11) is connected through the VD1 diode to the base output of the above transistor Q680. In addition, on the TV board, you need to solder the terminals of the resistors R604 and R601, which receive a signal from the KIA4558P (IC603) chip. In any (of the resistors freed from the leads) hole, a wire is soldered coming from the device capacitors C1 and C4 connected together. And the output of the left and right channels of the microcircuit, respectively, is connected to the soldered terminals of resistors R604 and R601 (through capacitors C10 and C15). Pin 10 of the DA1 chip is connected to the common wire of the TV. The supply voltage +12 V to the DA1 chip (pin 18) is easiest to apply from pin 8 of the IC603 TV chip. Now, when the TV is in normal mode (the "UBB" function is off), the DA1 pseudo-stereo-converter chip operates in the "Stereo" mode (at pin 11 - 0 V). But since the signal on the TV is mono, the sound from the speakers will be mono. If you turn on the "UBB" mode on the TV, then along with the rise of the low frequencies of the signal 34 by the IC603 chip of the TV, the "Pseudo-stereo" mode will also appear, since pin 11 of the TDA3810 chip will be disconnected from the common wire (+1 voltage will be applied to the cathode of the VD4,8 diode IN). The symbol mentioned above, which appears on the TV screen, will indicate the simultaneous activation of the "UBB" and "Pseudo-stereo" modes. Therefore, no additional indicator is required. The device is assembled on a printed circuit board, the drawing of which and the arrangement of parts on it are shown in Fig. 2. Resistors and capacitors can be used any small. Diode VD1 - any low-power. It should be borne in mind that the protective diode VD1 is introduced in order to be able to apply a control signal that exceeds the permissible level of 5 ... 6 V. Instead of two capacitors C1 and C4, you can install one, but then you need to connect pins 2 and 17 of the microcircuit together DA1. Fix the mounted printed circuit board in any convenient place inside the TV on the plastic ribs or protrusions of the case near the microcircuits on the TV board, which are mentioned above. It will not be difficult (if the conditions specified at the beginning of the article are met) to integrate the device into other TV models, both domestic and imported. A variety of voltages for switching on a particular mode can serve as a control signal, it all depends on the set of functions available on the TV. If you also use pin 12 of the DA1 chip for control, stereo TVs can also work in the "Extended Stereo" mode. The introduction of a pseudo-stereo mode into the TV made it possible to obtain a rather unusual, voluminous soundtrack. Literature
